There are many forms of meditation, each is designed to teach you lessons if you are willing to listen.

I once watched a pair of young men, no older than I, have a competition. Who could build the tallest rock tower. They gathered their rocks and started to stack them, and by the third or forth rock it'd collapse. Every time. And every time it fell they got a little more frustrated and agitated. They would rush and worry to no avail. They weren't listening.

When you are calm and controlled in your actions, when you take a moment to centre yourself and bring yourself into balance, so can you bring balance to your surroundings

For me, balancing rocks/stones is a meditative art. It teaches patience, control, and stability. It helps to understand what it means to be centered and balanced. It teaches us that no matter how much effort we put into our work, nothing is timeless, nothing is forever. People often get annoyed and angry when the rocks fall, they haven't been listening to what they teach. When balance is obtained, then harmony exists within your creation. But first harmony must exist within yourself before it can exist in your work.

There is something to be said about the way the rocks rest. In a moment they are still, and the next they fall. Even the symbol of stability will shift, move, and change shape. Our world is not meant to stand still, for if even the rocks are ever changing, why do we then think we have the right to remain the same?
