Experimenting with pinks to create mood within ourselves and when it is placed in our home, office, meeting room or foyer. I find it vibrant yet soft and feminine. A vivid blend of pinks and purples cascades across this abstract creation, generating an engaging atmosphere that holds interest. The work challenges viewer expectations; bold streaks intertwine with delicate circles and splatters, suggesting movement and energy. This layered complexity, reminiscent of abstract expressionism, invites exploration of its essence, prompting questions about what lies beneath the surface. Midori in Spring

Size: A3 - 29.7cm x 42cm

Acrylics, pens, chalk pastels, ink, silver foil, wax on canvas. The colour green beckoned and I aimed to create a sense of solitude. A woman from another time, being in the present. The reminder of her previous identities found in her hair, on her cloak and the shape of her eyes.

A captivating figure adorned in a cloak of swirling patterns gazes through a forest of lush greens and soft pink blossoms, prompting thoughts on nature and identity. The arrangement combines organic motifs with an expressive visage, reminiscent of artistic movements that celebrated abstract and figurative forms alike. The contrast of intense colours against muted backgrounds creates a soothing balance, hinting at timeless traditions and future possibilities in art. This work, though anchored in the present, seems to reflect evolving narratives, inviting viewers to consider how meanings will shift as it continues to spark curiosity in the years to come.

Something serendipitous happened recently. When things happen so 'randomly' (but fortuitously) that you need to pause and take it all in. I reached out to Rhiannon Lewis, a dear person I know from my clinical aromatherapy days. I asked her whether she had any thoughts on who I could contact regarding the work I do in aroma art (capturing the energy profiles of essential oils in art form. Very niche I know). She provided two contacts, one of which is Aromatika Magazine published in Europe. I was surprised but followed up after our e-introduction. I soon found myself meeting with the publisher and senior writer online - located in Hungary and Crete. It was a surreal moment. One thing led to another and now my aromatherapy story and artwork is being published. More of what I do (and how I moved into the world of becoming an aroma artist and what that all means) will be shared in the publication in coming editions. It's been a delightful experience, and I can't thank Rhiannon enough for the introduction.

My takeaway. Even when things seem highly unlikely, you just never know. Reach out to people and see where things land. It may not amount to anything, but ...... maybe it might. Very grateful to Gergely Hollodi and Ildiko Berecz for our initial conversation and their embracing the work I do in my redefined space, which now allows me to re-enter the world of (clinical) aromatherapy, plant medicine and natural perfumery.

The weekendā€™s here ā€” time for a little rest, a few projects, and maybe seeking out a little inspiration.

Itā€™s harder to get out into nature this time of year, but Iā€™ve found that art can have the same nourishing effect.
