Our Nursery room has been thoughtfully set up to celebrate NAIDOC Week, creating a warm and inviting space where our youngest children can begin learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

Using natural materials, Australian animal figures, books, and hands-on play experiences, children are encouraged to explore, discover, and learn through play. These experiences help build curiosity, creativity, and a connection with nature while introducing children to Australia’s First Nations cultures in a meaningful and age-appropriate way.

Learning about NAIDOC Week from an early age helps children develop respect, kindness, and an appreciation for different cultures. We are proud to provide a welcoming environment where every child can learn, explore, and feel a sense of belonging.

As Reconciliation Week comes to an end, we would like to share and celebrate our beautiful "Sea of Hearts" display, created by the children throughout the week. Each heart represents kindness, respect, and a commitment to building stronger relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

National Reconciliation Week is an important opportunity to reflect on our shared history and recognise the significance of reconciliation in creating a more inclusive and respectful future. Throughout the week, children across all rooms have participated in meaningful discussions about what reconciliation means and why it is important. They have also engaged in a variety of experiences and learning opportunities that celebrate and embrace Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and perspectives.

These experiences have encouraged children to develop an appreciation for the rich cultures of Australia's First Nations peoples while fostering respect, understanding, and a sense of belonging for all.

While Reconciliation Week may be coming to an end, our commitment to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our daily practices continues throughout the year. We believe it is important for children to be exposed to and learn from the world's oldest continuing cultures, helping them grow into respectful, compassionate, and culturally aware individuals.

Yesterday, our children enjoyed an exciting visit from the friendly team at Dental2You. The children participated in a small group discussion with the dentist, where they learned all about the importance of looking after their teeth and keeping healthy smiles.

The dentist spoke with the children about brushing their teeth and making healthy food choices. The children were engaged, asked lots of questions, and enjoyed learning how to care for their teeth in a fun and interactive way.

This week, our children continued learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through hands-on sensory and creative experiences.

The children explored a sensory rice tray inspired by the colours of the Aboriginal flag and enjoyed creating natural paints using fruits, spices, and water. They loved crushing the ingredients and using the colours to create their own unique artworks.

These experiences supported creativity, fine motor development, sensory exploration, and curiosity while encouraging children to connect with nature and culture.

Today our Kindergarten class enjoyed a special visit to our local library to take part in National Simultaneous Storytime. Together, the children listened to Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson, Adrian Lloyd, and Jake Minton as part of this exciting Australia-wide reading event.

The children loved joining in with the story, exploring the characters, and sharing the experience alongside the wider community.

National Simultaneous Storytime aims to promote the value of reading, literacy, and storytelling, helping children build early language skills, imagination, confidence, and a love for books.

Today, the children have been busy decorating hearts for the Sea of Hearts movement in recognition of Reconciliation Week ❤️💛🖤

This year, we will be recognising National Reconciliation Week from Wednesday 27th May to Wednesday 3rd June. Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to reflect on how we can walk together with respect, understanding and unity.

At the centre, we are participating in the Sea of Hearts initiative. The children have already begun decorating their hearts, sharing their creativity and ideas about kindness, belonging and connection. Families are warmly invited to join in by decorating a heart and writing what reconciliation means to your family.

Through these experiences, we hope to support meaningful conversations with children about respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and histories, while fostering a sense of community and belonging for everyone.

We look forward to sharing this important week together. ❤️

What a fantastic Road Safety Day we had today!

The children had a blast riding their bikes and scooters through our road safety setup while learning important safety skills in a fun and engaging way. From practicing safe riding and wearing helmets to taking turns and following directions, the children built confidence, coordination, balance, and awareness of their surroundings.

It was wonderful to see so many smiles, excitement, and teamwork this morning as the children explored road safety through hands-on play and active learning 🚴‍♀️

🌏🌿 Earth Day Adventures 🌿🌏

For Earth Day, our Kindergarten and Junior Kindy children enjoyed a special bush walk, exploring the beauty of the natural environment around them.

Along the way, the children observed trees, plants, and engaged in meaningful conversations about how we can care for our Earth. They showed curiosity as they explored, collected natural items, and discovered the wonders of nature.

This experience supported their understanding of sustainability, encouraged respect for the environment, and helped build a strong connection to the natural world.
