Coolamon Singers has been an established choir on the Gold Coast, Australia for over 30 years. Performing SATB four-part classical, sacred, opera and contemporary choral works. Directed by internationally acclaimed choir master and conductor Marco Bellasi and accompanied by award-winning international concert pianist Ayesha Gough.

We’d also like to thank everyone who attended filling every seat in the venue! We appreciate your support, kind words, and the amazing atmosphere! Coolamon Singers presents Matt Ottley Art ’s Lux Aeterna. Matt talks about Lux Aeterna as the background recording is from the first performance of Coolamon Singers singing Lux Aeterna on 18 July, with two more performances to come on 25 July at Clear Island Waters and 8 August at Mudgeeraba. The Lux Aeterna is an adaptation of a movement from a much larger work by the composer called The Tree of Ecstasy and Unbearable Sadness, which was written for a large orchestra, choir and solo tenor. The composer rewrote the orchestral accompaniment for this movement for piano and cello, creating this work as a stand-alone piece specifically for The Coolamon Singers. Although the larger, original work was a symphonic tone poem centred around the subject of empathy and mental illness, this adapted work expands those themes into the context of this concert, Mass in Time of War. The words the soloist sings revolve around themes of a longing for peace, the fragility of the human condition and the fear and persecution of those who are different (‘For a thousand years I have railed in fear/ Shine a light on those I have thrown stones upon.’). At its heart it is a plea for empathy, for ‘light eternal.’

Acclaimed Australian cellist Belinda Manwaring will feature in our July & August Concert Series, bringing her exceptional artistry and wealth of performance experience to the stage. Renowned for her expressive musicianship and beautifully nuanced playing, Belinda's performances combines warmth, elegance, and depth.

Belinda Manwaring is a distinguished Australian cellist who has graced numerous recital and chamber music stages across Australia and New Zealand. As a sought-after freelance musician, she has performed with prestigious ensembles including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Opera & Ballet Orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.

Since relocating to Queensland in 2002, Belinda has firmly established herself as a leading recital cellist, performing with both modern and baroque cello. In addition to her performing career, she offers dedicated private instruction at her studio on the Gold Coast, inspiring and nurturing the next generation of cellists.

Bringing warmth, depth, and expressive artistry, our bass baritone Dan Major will feature as one of our vocal soloists in the July & August Concert Series. His rich, resonant voice and thoughtful interpretation of each piece create performances that are both engaging and memorable. We look forward to sharing Dan's artistry with you as he takes the stage alongside the Coolamon Singers.

Dan first studied classical singing in Sydney in his early twenties with his great uncle Maurice Avenaim, a Tenor who studied Belle Canto in Milan circa 1950. During his early studies Dan performed as an actor in several productions with Opera Australia and more recently he has been acting in community theatre on the Northern Rivers. Having not sung classically for some 30 years Dan is delighted to be singing with Coolamon Singers with a renewed passion for the art form. Since joining the choir 18 months ago Dan continues to study and develop his Baritone voice, repertoire and the joy of singing under the excellent tutelage of Marco Bellasi

Our very own soprano soprano, Lorelle Moller, will be joining us as a vocal soloist in our July & August Concert Series. Her exceptional musicality captures the essence of every song, while her graceful, expressive performances create a lasting connection with audiences.

Lorelle started singing very early and at age 3 performed Stephen Adams' The Holy City in its entirety for her kindy teachers. At age 6 she sang the descant of the duet Cares Chorus in Psalty's Camping Adventure which ran for four shows. Her first paid job was at age 8 performing Christmas carols around Surfers Paradise with the vocal ensemble Opus Singers.

During her school years she participated in many music groups including choirs, vocal ensembles and bands, culminating in her playing the part of Dorothy at age 17 in Trinity Lutheran College's production of The Wizard of Oz. In these early years she also studied classical singing, achieving Grade 8 through the Australian Music Examinations Board.

In 2007 she won the open age vocal championship in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod as well as being awarded the vocal performer with the most potential. 2007 also saw her participate in a community production of The Pirates of Penzance at Spotlight Theatre. Throughout the years she has often performed and recorded as a soloist, with small ensembles and as part of a choir.
