Yes you’re totally allowed to have really sh*tty day and not be happy about it. Not one bit happy…

and you’re totally allowed to think something is unfair without immediately turning it into a beautiful life lesson. Sit with that for a while hehe 😜

Being a positive person doesn’t mean never feeling the other stuff.

Sometimes something sucks. And maybe we can just admit that before we try and make ourselves feel better about it.

So here’s my question for you today…

Is there something you’ve been trying really hard to “be positive” about when you might just need to let yourself feel it?

I am teaching my girls to set boundaries while my heart still races every time I set one of my own.

Saying no to a friend last week took me three drafts of a text message.

If they see me practise it badly and keep going, maybe that is worth more than getting it right.

What is the boundary you find hardest to hold? 🍒🎨🌱

My daughter walked into the bathroom while I was getting ready and caught the tail end of me criticising my own reflection.

She did not say anything. She just watched.

That was the moment I realised she learns how to talk to herself by listening to how I talk to me.

Have you caught your kids watching you do this too? 🫧🩷🛶

The gap between what I'm teaching and what I'm modelling is not small some days.

I am trying to catch it faster now, to say something true out loud instead of just moving on.

Do you notice the gap too, or is it just me? 🌈🌷⚽

Somewhere along the way we decided resilience meant not falling apart 🎀

But I have watched my girls cry over things that felt enormous to them and my first instinct is always to fix it, rush past it, help them bounce back as fast as possible.

And then I wonder why they stop telling me when things are hard.

Falling apart is not the opposite of resilience. Feeling it fully and still coming through is. Those are completely different things 🎶🐣

What did resilience look like in your house growing up?

Because being the person who can cope with everything doesn’t need to become your whole personality.

So here’s my question for you today… What would you ask for help with if you didn’t feel like you had to prove you could handle it yourself?

I am trying to notice every time one of my girls apologises for something that was never a problem, and hand the sentence back without the sorry in it.

Do your kids apologise for taking up space too, or is this just a thing in our house? 🛝🪸

My husband asked how the school pickup drama went and "fine" was out of my mouth before I had even worked out what happened.

I have said it for so long that the truth sometimes takes me a minute to find now.

This week I am trying a longer sentence instead. "I am feeling a bit overwhelmed and I just need a minute" rather than the easy one word answer.

What is the word you reach for when you do not want to explain how you are feeling? 🫐🪩🌶️

My body carried two babies and it still gets me down to this beach every single day.

Correcting it out loud feels strange every time, but I would rather feel strange than watch them learn to talk about their own bodies the way I have talked about mine.

Do you catch yourself doing this in front of your kids too? 🪷

My husband and I disagreed about something small last week and I did what I always do: I stopped talking and let him have the last word.

I used to call that keeping the peace. Most of the time it just meant I had removed myself from the conversation before it was even finished.

I am trying to stay in the room now, even when my voice shakes a bit saying what I think.

When did you last let an argument end just to make it stop? 🌱🩵
