A lovely review from Winchelsea Repertory ✨🙏
**LADY SUSAN REVIEW **
If you're looking for an entertaining afternoon of theatre, don't miss Lady Susan, Jane Austen's deliciously witty tale, brought to life in director Jo Adcock's impressive directorial debut.
Performed as a staged reading by talented actors from the Creswick Theatre Company and The Bard Buninyong, this production quickly makes you forget the scripts are even in the performers' hands. The cast delivers such confident, engaging performances that you're completely drawn into the story from the very first scene.
Although written over 200 years ago, Lady Susan is remarkably relevant today. Austen's sharp observations about ambition, manipulation and relationships still resonate, and the humour feels as fresh as ever.
The standout performance is, without question, Lady Susan herself. Her razor-sharp wit, impeccable comic timing and wonderfully devious characterisation are a delight to watch. She commands the stage with ease, making every line sparkle with intelligence and mischief.
As a member of the Winchelsea Repertory Society, I attended with several fellow members—our tongue-in-cheek excuse being "professional development"! We all came away thoroughly impressed by the quality of the production.
While this is a staged reading rather than a full-scale production, the thoughtfully designed performance space and carefully chosen costumes beautifully evoke the period, creating an atmosphere that perfectly complements Austen's world.
This is clever, funny and wonderfully entertaining theatre. Do yourself a favour—buy a ticket, settle in, and enjoy a truly delightful afternoon with Lady Susan. You won't regret it.
