BRIDGING THE GAP TO SPEAKING
Keep it simple.
Take Heart – It’s getting easier to learn Irish in Australia.
To develop speaking/listening skills find a friend( at your level).
Avoid the mental gymnastics involved in translating from English to Irish (vice versa).
Listening can be used as a spring board for speaking.
Don’t try and be perfect straight away, but cuir snas ar do chuid Gaeilge – de réir a chéile.
Initially aim for understanding rather than exactly correct pronounciation or canúint cheart.
Find a Conversation class.
Develop stock phrases, work on stock questions.
Try not to be afraid of using technology.
