Settling into the new studio space and loving the slower rhythm of creating in a relaxed atmosphere.

Building layers, following ideas, and letting the works evolve naturally over time. It already feels like a space where things can really grow.

Rock Bowl Reflections

At the base of Fairy Bower Falls in Morton National Park, a small rock basin holds still water, collecting reflections of surrounding trees. The work focuses on the tension between movement and stillness. The water is shaped by stone, yet momentarily calm enough to hold the landscape back at itself.

A new space, new layers, and works beginning to find their rhythm.

This short pan through my studio space captures the early stages, the mess, the movement, and the excitement of building something fresh.

Grateful to be creating alongside such inspiring artists in this incredible space at Corinne Dany Studio, Mittagong.

Working things out in the new studio and getting the first layers down on some new works. Lots more to do, but it feels good to have uninterrupted time to experiment, push texture gels around and see where the paintings want to go.

Only pause was for tea and birthday cake with fellow artist Nat which was a pretty good interruption to have!

Two quick sketches at the top of Fairy Bower Falls today. The photos don’t quite capture it, but there’s something about sitting in the landscape and drawing directly from it that stays with you long after you leave. I love the movement of water, the textures of the bush, the quiet. These studies always find their way back into the studio and are a great memory prompt.

Excited to share that I now have a studio space at Corinne Dany’s Art Cafe in Mittagong.

It feels incredibly special to be working alongside other established artists in such an inspiring and creative environment. Having a dedicated space to develop new work, experiment, and fully immerse myself in the process is something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time.

I can’t wait to make the space my own and see where this next chapter leads. (Image above is my home studio on a tidy day!)

Textures gathered from a wander through Morton National Park ... Small reminders of physically being there.

Back in the studio, these images become memory triggers, bringing movement, atmosphere and experience back into the work.

A day in Morton National Park turned into a study of colour, time, and place.

From fresh eucalyptus greens through to ochres, rusts, and deep browns, the car park floor offered a full spectrum.

Like looking for interesting shells or stones on a beach, I search for pieces on the ground to make assemblages.

A quiet reminder that landscape is never just what we admire, it’s also engagement evoking memories, and what we respectfully leave behind.

New materials sitting on the bench … and I haven’t touched them yet!

A fresh gel plate, some beautiful pencils, and a new texture gel — all full of possibility. It's the quiet moment before starting, where "everything" could go "anywhere."

I’m letting that anticipation sit for a bit!

Reminding my hands how to work with my brain and heart! After a break looking after Mum, I have to ease myself back in with some very fast sketching, collage and some "sneaky squigs" for my daughter's birthday!

Sometimes an image needs to be created more than once. Usually I paint on canvases but this one is on paper. Can you feel this place through the layers, colours and gloss?
