Experimenting with texture paste over charcoal today. Building up the surface before adding paint creates a strong sense of depth and movement. I enjoy this stage of the process, where the drawing begins to shift from a simple sketch into something more layered and tactile. Looking forward to seeing where it leads next.

Not every photograph becomes a painting. Choosing the right image is often the first creative decision. A quick sketch can help test composition, balance and focal points before committing to a larger work.

Spending a few minutes sketching can save hours later and often reveals possibilities that aren't obvious in particular photographs.

Just a quick drop-off today.

My three mushroom paintings and artwork from studio colleagues delivered to Tika at Bungendore's Water Through Reeds Gallery. The repaired floor and exhibition space look amazing.

My artworks are now waiting to be hung, ready for next Saturday's opening at 1pm. Please come along if you are able! I cannot wait 😀

Such a fun, day for such a diverse group of people. An event that was both welcoming and enjoyable. The icing on the cake was selling " Morton Waterfall"! Lots of lovely affordable art looking for a new home! Go and visit!

Three fungi paintings finished and signed.

Inspired by photographs from a recent wander, these works not only record fungi but are also about traces, memory and the hidden rhythms of the bush.

Marks and colour build a sense of what is seen, remembered and imagined.
