Nathan was the only member from BYO placed in the Australian Honours Ensemble Program orchestra this year, playing first French Horn. As well as a busy week in rehearsals for AHEP he also auditioned for the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, along with several other BYO1 members. We wish them all the best!

Sophie and Connor performed with the Graham Lloyd Wind Orchestra in the SHEP concerts at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University on the weekend. Great to see so many of our BYO members taking part, and doing such a fantastic job of representing their schools and our region.

Molly, Sophie, Imogen and Vivienne from our BYO string sections representing four different local schools together at the Queensland SHEP performances.

Hosted by Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University in Brisbane the State Honours/Australian Honours Ensemble Programs are a fantastic experience for students. We hope everyone who attended SHEP or AHEP this school holidays enjoyed every minute making music in the ensembles. We applaud your commitment to building your skills in performance.

BYO1 members Karson and McKenzie, were part of an amazing AHEP Wind Orchestra concert this evening at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. Well done boys 🙂.

The Australian Honours Ensemble Program members are nominated by their school instrumental teachers and are placed in an ensemble after an audition process, so it takes dedication and skill.

BYO parents, if your child was at AHEP or SHEP this week, please send us some photos to our messenger or our mobile so we can recognise their efforts.

What do insurance and percussionists have in common? You don't realise how important they are until you don't have them.

That's a pretty good way to describe David and the crew at Northwest Insurance Bundaberg our Platinum Sponsor. Whether it's a small business, your home, or something more complicated, the team takes the time to work out what cover you actually need, so it's there when it matters.

If your policy's coming up for renewal (or you've just been putting it off), give them a look: https://northwestfinancialgroup.com.au/

Thanks NWI. We appreciate you more than you know.

As we head into exam time of year it is easy to think that music is an “extra” and coming to rehearsal takes too much time. The opposite is true - time in rehearsals not only teaches persistence, it helps your brain process and retain information in a way nothing else can.

What is music learning building today?

Persistence.

Every piece starts with mistakes. Every challenge is an opportunity to grow. Every attempt builds the skills to keep going.

Music learning teaches students that progress doesn't come from getting it right the first time. It comes from breaking challenges into smaller steps, trying new approaches and learning from every mistake. That's persistence in action, and it's a skill that lasts well beyond the music room.

Excited to hear what Bella Canna will be performing at the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra concert this Saturday. Our piece is workshopped and ready to go!

Join us on Saturday as we take the stage in the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra concert, along with Bundaberg Youth Orchestra. Bella Canna will be playing Variations on a Theme of Tchaikovsky by Arensky, a lesser known work that is absolutely gorgeous! 🎶
