In the lead up to the winter solstice (21st June), has your family / community got any exciting activities planned?

Our daughter is in charge of our activities - the first, creating a beautiful winter solstice space to celebrate the return of the light after June 21. She has made bees wax candles, crafted the clay candle holders during our clay month in May, painted mandala boards, cut some rosemary sprigs from the garden, used her homemade smudging sticks, and decorated with different earth crystals.

Celebrating the lead up to the winter solstice - a time for reflection, stillness and a rebirth of light. A timely reminder that no matter how dark or heavy life feels, light and warmth will always return.

We hope everyone is keeping safe in all this rain. It’s been wonderful at Living Strong, our dams are finally full and all the tanks and we are officially “stuck” (on the right side of the bridge thankfully!). A good day for a play in the puddles.

April is clay month

A big wheelbarrow full of clay from the ground, a walk through the bush to collect trees, and a dinosaur park was created. Lakes, forests and even an active volcano 🌋

Imaginary play is the best!

Today we celebrated teddy bear bees 🐝

Teddy bear bees (Amegilla bombiformis) are large adorable, fluffy Australian native bees. They use a technique called "buzz pollination," where they vibrate their muscles to make flowers shake and release pollen, which is vital for crops like tomatoes and blueberries. They live alone, each girl bee makes her own tiny tunnel home in the ground or in soft, sandy dirt banks. The boys don't live in the dirt nests! At night, they hang onto plant stems or twigs using their jaws to sleep. When they fly, they make a low, loud humming noise. They don't make honey for us to eat, but they create a special paste from pollen and nectar for their babies.
