I got a little bit teary with Sharon Hinchliffe when we realised that it was exactly a year ago that I looked around a dusty, shelf filled warehouse and found a home for The Art Hive I can’t thank you enough framedco.au for allowing me to join this amazing creative hub at 37 Spencer St. Jo you know I appreciate you as a friend and a landlord! And thank you to the amazing community of Bunbury! We’ve gone from 27 students first term, 68 second term to 95 students term 3 and survived a 4 month social media hack and starting again! Shall we aim for 100 hive students term 4 😊❤️ Term 4’s theme has been picked with all of this in mind! Term 1 - Ocean, Term 2 - Bugs, birds & botanicals, Term 3 - Around the world, Term 4 - It takes a village …. And we are going to build a little village through the 8 weeks at the hive

This week’s classes are visiting Europe with building perspectives, night skies in watercolour, stunning mosaics and material bound sketch books. Surrounded by so much colour and joy! Can’t believe there are only 2 weeks of term classes left!

Busy week at the hive with art classes , drama & film technique classes, coloured pencil, mosaic & watercolour classes, a private corporate workshop and one on one public speaking sessions. Where did that weekend go! Four more classes tomorrow with Sharon Hinchliffe and I wouldn’t change a thing! The hive is buzzzzzzing!

We have fourteen 10- 15 year olds learning from two incredible watercolour and pencil artists and a waitlist for next term. Shall we run two classes? Send me a message if your little artist is keen to learn in a relaxed and social environment

Sometimes I wonder how I can call it a ‘job’, when I get to watch talented artists run gorgeous workshops with lovely people who are just enjoying time out and creating and connecting! This was our Seascapes workshop but I absolutely loved how every creation was unique and depicted a different landscape Thank you ladies for a lovely afternoon at the hive

Here at the hive I wanted to be able to give back, so I built a hive so that each person that came through the doors would drop a bee in and I would donate $1 to a chosen charity. I was expecting when we reached the top it would be about 500 bees … boy was I wrong!! Congratulations to Lillie and her doggy Rosie for the closest guess and thank you to for the incredible work that you do! We hope this small donation helps and you are our next chosen charity with over 90 bees in the hive already in a week ☺️

At any time you can request a private booking for any artist run workshop if you have a minimum of 6 people, otherwise we will continue to post workshops every month. The exciting ones for June are an incredible coloured pencil workshop with the insanely talented whose exhibition you can currently see at 37 Spencer street .au and then a relaxing and beautiful workshop with Claire de Ridder from where you will select hand pressed florals and design your own beautiful framed piece of nature. Both are Sundays workshops and the perfect opportunity to relax and take time for yourself or catch up with friends or family
