Celebrating 40 years of SWOC and 17 years of SWOClets 🤯

It is our absolute privilege to support the talented young performers we have here in the South West. Here are some snaps of Junior Choir, the SWOClets over the years 📸

Did you know that SWOClets started all the way back in 2009 with our production of 'Oliver!'? It was a big thrill for the 35 children who made their debut with the Company.

The children were mentored by Rob Hill (who also played Fagin), Mary-Ellen Sutherland (Choreographer), David Meadows (Director), and Marguerite Monagle (Musical Director). Audiences responded by filling 91 per cent of the seats over 4 performances in the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre!

Since it started, so many amazing young performers have come through SWOClets, with a lot of them going on to study at WAAPA, perform with WA Opera, and grace stages nationally and internationally in their chosen disciplines 🎭👏

Sharing snapshots from 40 incredible years.

When SWOC took to the stage with Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'The Phantom of the Opera' in 2018, it was our most ambitious and successful production yet! The show was certainly the most technical, including a giant falling chandelier from the centre of the auditorium, projected images onto 6 individual screens and complex sound and lighting designs.

With sold-out shows and standing ovations at every curtain call, SWOC received great acclaim for this show – including several Robert Finley Award (WA Amateur Theatre Association) nominations and awards 🏆

Our Junior Choir, the SWOClets, will be performing at the Bunbury Eisteddfod this Friday 5 June 🎤

These talented and hard-working young performers are excited to hit the BREC stage to sing 'My Favourite Things' from The Sound of Music and Queen's crowd-pleaser 'Don't Stop Me Now' - and yes, we can guarantee the audience will be having a good time 😉

Celebrating 40 years of community through shared memories!

10 years ago (for our 30th anniversary) we were thrilled to tour our production of Gilbert & Sullivan's 'Patience' across the South West. Performing to audiences in Bunbury, Busselton and Augusta, and starring many of our long-term SWOC members, this comical operetta with its tongue-in-cheek melodrama and masterfully witty comedy was as much fun for the cast as it was for those in the crowd 😄

✨ A Night at the Opera ✨

Celebrate 40 years of the South West Opera Company with a spectacular black tie gala concert at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre.

This special one-night-only event will feature the full SWOC Chorus, Musical Theatre Group, SWOClets Junior Choir and returning guest artists performing unforgettable favourites from across four decades of productions.

From The Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables to Fiddler on the Roof, Carmen and more! This will be a celebration of the music, memories and community that have shaped SWOC since 1986.
