We've just performed a mini concert at Buderim Gardens Retirement Village.
The occassion was a sale of designer clothing and accessories owned by Marilyn, the late wife of Choir member Alan Ford, and the proceeds were all being donated to the Stroke Foundation in her honour.
We were happy to support the event and we sang a selection of the songs we'll be singing at our concert on 20th September.
Several of our Choir wives attended as well and made a few purchases.

We’re putting the final touches to our concert “Songs of the
Sea” on Sunday 20 th September at the Buderim War

and rollicking sea shanties and will be joined by local
balladeer Ian Rix as guest artist. Tickets are $20 at the door
and that includes afternoon tea.
The week 24 th to 30 th August is Try a Choir Week. It’s being
promoted by Creativity Australia and it’s aim is to encourage
people to join a choir.

We're in full rehearsal for our September concert "Songs of the Sea" but we had a little diversion last Thursday evening.
The National Boys' Choir of Australia, which is based in Melbourne, is presently on a tour of Australia and we were invited to join them, along with the Oriana Choir and the Sunshine Coast Youth Choir, in a private concert in Buderim's Uniting Church hall.
We sang a bracket of five songs and enjoyed listening to the other choirs with their different styles of presentation. The sweet sounds of the National Boys' Choir were an absolute delight.
We were presented with a little placque by the NBC to commemorate the occasion.

We visited Buderim Private Hospital to take part in their annual Anzac Day ceremony, which we do every year. We sang Abide With Me as well as the Australian and New Zealand anthems.
At our weekly rehearsals we're polishing up on "songs of the sea" for our September concert, with a new one being added by our Musical Director, Stuart Hill, each week.

We performed a concert at Immanuel Gardens Retirement Village to commemorate St George's Day (April 23rd). St George is the patron Saint of England. We had a large enthusiastic audience, the accoustics were excellent and we sang a variety of popular English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish songs, finishing up with a couple of Australian favourites.
