Opportunity now here to film a SHOWREEL for agents (10th & 11th april)..….

Over the years I have been asked by many parents about their child being able to get an agent for screen acting. My response is always that firstly you need to have a showreel to send an agent so they can assess your performance skills and also so they have a showreel to share with producers and production companies who are casting a role. In order to have a show reel you need to have at least two scenes that you have acted in from film or television to use as demos of your work. This is always difficult as generally you need to have the agent and the reel to get these in the first place!

Because of this situation, another option is paying for a showreel to be shot with an acting studio who offers this with a professional camera operator, professional set design and a director who can get the best performance possible from you. I teach workshops in screen acting from time to time at The Factory Acting Studio in Brisbane and im teaming with them to provide a workshop over one to two days in the Easter school holidays where we professionally direct and film students in scenes for showreels. These scenes will be edited into showreels and students can then use these to send out to agents. Students can either attend one day and film one scene or two days and film two. If you have no previous scenes to use it is a good idea to shoot two so that an agent can see a variety as a showreel consists of a minimum of two scenes.

The scenes will be written by a professional screen writer specifically for your child and to fit their capabilities and level. The other actor in each scene will be a professional and experienced actor. Not only will your chlld receive scenes for a showreel, this opportunity provides a valuable experience for anyone interested in the screen industry, of being on set and being directed by a professional director.

This is a really great opportunity for anyone keen on breaking into the industry so please let me know ASAP if your child is interested as numbers are strictly limited. The dates are the 10th & 11th of April.

Once again I’ll be holding a drama & acting workshop alongside professional actor & theatre director Jeremy Stanford these coming school holidays, in buderim. The date is Monday the 23rd of September. It will be a fun day filled with drama games, improvisation, character playing and theatre skills.
$90 per child. Open to ages 7 to 18 (students work with others in their age group).
