Jo and Tarmi demonstrate some simple and safe wedding lifts you might like to try.

Unlike many viral wedding lift trends, you don't need a much strength to do these lifts, as demonstrated by the fact that Jo is doing the lifting, which means these lifts are good options for same s*x couples.

If your dress is a ballgown or a line, and there's too much fabric to be gathered, a lift from the waist is best to let that fabric flow freely.

For fitted styles like a mermaid or trumpet wedding gown, the pindrop is a winner. It's easy, but the bride gets some serious height which looks quite impressive.

If your wedding dress is short, or high-low, or has a split in it, the last 3 lifts could be options for you, depending on where a leg can be easily accessed.

All of these lifts have a few things in common which is why we love them...

For the liftER - these lifts are all really safe, as your back stays straight and the lifting happens from the legs in all these options. The lifter doesn't need a great deal of strength either, as your arms are below your shoulders and you hug your partner in closely.

For the liftEE - if all of these lifts your head is higher than your hips and your hips are higher than your feet, which means it's impossible to be dropped on your head and safe for you to do even after a couple of wines.

So let's all stop hurting ourselves attempting to lift a grown human over our heads with one arm, and give some of these options a go instead!

Introducing Tarmi, North Eastern Suburbs Home Lessons.

Tarmi sees it as an honour to support wedding couples with their first dance and add to the beauty and magic of the day. She creates a fun, warm and nurturing environment for couples to learn and thrive, bringing out their best.

Tarmi has taught at multiple dance schools and has over 15 years of dancing experience. She has performed and trained in Street Latin styles of dance around Australia and the World, and specialises in lifts and tricks. Achievements include, placing 2nd in World Salsa Summit Competition, Miami 2015 (Pro-Am Salsa Cabaret) and 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings from Australia’s World Salsa Solo competition (Amateur and Semi-Pro categories).

Tarmi is an experienced corporate workshop designer and facilitator, delivering learning and development and behaviour change programs for over 20 years.

She has a unique mix of education and brings both the analytical and creative sides to everything she does. She says “It is a thrill to see couples who may think they can’t dance, gradually learn together step by step, build confidence, have an absolute ball on the dance floor and blow their guests away!”
