Oil painting is good fun to use as a medium. Especially because you can rework the paint hours after starting. Acrylic paint doesn't give us thia luxury without expensive retarders. Just remember that you can't use just any oil....

Oil paints can be used with different drying oils and painting mediums to change how the paint flows, dries and appears. Linseed oil / flaxseed oil is the most commonly used oil because it improves flow, increases transparency and creates a strong paint film, although it can slightly yellow over time. Walnut oil has a lighter colour and smooth consistency, making it useful for lighter colours and delicate mixtures. Poppy seed oil is slower drying and less likely to yellow, so it is often used with whites and pale colours. Safflower oil is also pale and slow drying and is commonly found in lighter-coloured oil paints. When adding oil to paint, use only a small amount, as too much can make the paint overly thin, slow drying and more prone to wrinkling.
