ART SMART BUSHFIRE FUNDRAISER CLASS

Hi Art Smart families - to raise funds for animals affected by the SA bushfires I am holding a special Art Class before school goes back.

We will be playing with clay to make mobile/hanging ornaments. Students will select clay shapes to sand, paint, glaze and arrange to create their own quirky hanging ornament - great for a feature in their bedroom or in the garden.

ALL funds raised will be donated to the Kangaroo Island Bushfire Affected Koala Fund. Protecting the KI koalas is incredibly important as they are the only chlamydia-free population. Donations are going directly towards their care, triage and ongoing treatments, housing, essential equipment, feed and more.

Art Smart Calendar Class for Term 3 holidays

Looking for some holiday fun? Look no further! Why not book your child in for a 3 hour class learning about Australian contemporary artist Pete Cromer. You may recognise his artworks printed on the latest range of Maxwell Williams mugs, coasters and tea towels. During this class we will focus on creating one A3 native animal print using acrylic paints. This will then be transformed into a wall calendar just in time for Christmas gifts.

Class will be $40 with all materials and one calendar or $30 if you are not wanting to purchase a calendar. Additional calendars can be pre-ordered for $15 each.

Maximum 12 students. Please note class will be held at Tennyson to cater for only running one session of a larger class size.

Yayoi Kasuma

Come join Art Smart these July school holidays as we examine Japanese artist and polka dot enthusiast Yayoi Kasuma. The modern artist is known for her larger than life installations that are doused with dots, patterns and bright colours.

In class we will learn about her life as an artist and her iconic style that she started to develop at the young age of 10. We will mimic this style by drawing inspiration from winter vegetables akin to her well known piece "Pumpkins" and create a contemporary panting with acrylics.

Bookings essential - only 10 spots available. Suitable for all primary school ages.

Hi Art Smart Families!

With school holidays around the corner Art Smart is back! For something a bit different we will be exploring a new medium for creative expression by using quick dry clay and pressed flowers to form nature themed plates. Students will design, mould, paint and glaze their plates all within an extended class of 2.5hrs (including a short break).

Hi Art Smart Families - I have decided to squeeze in one more art project before the return of school and arrival of bubs!

Anyone else noticed the llama craze inundating all sorts of paraphernalia at the moment? I certainly have and thought I would use this as inspiration to do two works over two days.

Firstly a zoom in portrait of a llamas face using a bold, bright background and black and white face (much like the jersey cows shown below from our Christmas calendar workshop).

The second being a landscape body of a llama with a bright patterned blanket using antonymous colours.

I hope we create quirky complimentary art works that can be framed and put on display - perfect for children's rooms.

Hi Art Smart families! It has been a while but classes are back. These holidays I am offering something a bit different in preparation of the C word....CHRISTMAS (obviously). This workshop has a gift in mind where we will work on a series of artworks and collate them into a professional calendar for 2019. Book in soon as some places have already been filled. To my lovely Art Smart families,

I am sorry I have not run any Art Activities over the holidays, I have been busy preparing to move...to India! That's right, I am moving to India to work in a school in Tirupati (just outside of Chennai) to teach English literature, ESL and hopefully a bit of Art. So I have had to pack up house and heart to prepare for the move. I love teaching your children Art and envisage continuing this project when I am home (whenever that may be). If you want to follow me on my travels I will be writing a blog.

Thank you for all of your support and embracing Art in your children's lives - it is so important for all kiddies to be allowed the opportunity to express themselves creatively and to understand the different mediums this self expression can look like.

On that note, Happy New Year and I bid you adieu. I hope 2018 is a rewarding journey.
