There is something magical when classical ballet meets jazz.

We are incredibly excited to share a glimpse of Points on Jazz, an original work choreographed by our wonderful Miss Jess and performed by Newcastle Dance Academy dancers for the Newcastle Music Festival.

Combining the precision and artistry of pointe work with the rhythm and energy of jazz, this piece challenges our dancers both technically and creatively, while celebrating the powerful connection between music and movement.

As we celebrate 30 years of Newcastle Dance Academy, opportunities like this remind us how fortunate we are to collaborate with talented musicians and artists within our community.

NDA isn’t just celebrating its history; it’s continuing to create new opportunities, new choreography and new artistic experiences for the next generation of dancers.

We cannot wait to bring this work to the stage and share it with audiences later this year.

Celebrating the journeys, achievements and stories of our Newcastle Dance Academy graduates.

We begin with the incredible Rebecca Higgins.
❤️MOULIN ROUGE PARIS❤️

Starting her training at NDA at just 7 years old, Becky quickly became part of the fabric of our studio - a dedicated, hardworking and beautiful young dancer whose passion and determination would take her across the world.

Since joining the world-renowned Moulin Rouge in Paris in 2019, Becky has continued to rise through the ranks with extraordinary success - performing as a CanCan Duo Artist, Captain, Soloist and now Principal replacement, alongside her recent promotion to 3rd Captain of the dancer line in 2026.

But beyond these remarkable achievements, it is who Becky is as a person that makes us most proud.

“Spending so much of my childhood at NDA shaped not only my training, but also the person I am today… encouraging me to work hard and believe in myself. Through their guidance and support, I learned the values of resilience, strength, discipline, and professionalism.”

“NDA is, and will always be, the place I visit when I come home- because I truly believe you should never forget where you came from.”

Our Kindy Combo class is the perfect next step for confident little dancers ready for more!

Designed especially for 5-year-olds who have started school, this 2-hour weekly class brings together the joy of ballet, jazz and tap in one fun, creative and age-appropriate program – just for them!

With a beautiful balance of structure and imagination, Kindy Combo supports:
✨ Coordination and musicality
✨ Confidence and independence
✨ Listening skills and focus
✨ A love of movement and performance

This special class gives dancers the chance to explore different styles, build strong foundations, and feel proud as they step into “big school” and “big dance” – all in a nurturing, joyful environment.

Today we celebrate the women who sit through endless rehearsals, sew costumes late at night, perfect ballet buns, cheer the loudest from the audience, drive to classes, competitions and concerts, and hold everything together with love and patience.

Today, for our wider community, we are proud to formally introduce Miss Jess as Head of our Full-Time/Part-time and Extension Programs.

With an outstanding professional career - from training at Elmhurst Ballet School to performing as a Soloist with Northern Ballet for 10years - Miss Jess brings a depth of experience, knowledge and artistry that is truly exceptional.

Beyond her achievements on stage, it is her passion for developing young dancers, her eye for detail, her breathtaking choreography and her commitment to nurturing each individual that makes her an exceptional leader within our Academy.

As we celebrate over 26 years of our Full-Time Program, her leadership marks an exciting continuation of a pathway that has quietly shaped generations of dedicated, disciplined and passionate young dancers.

Together, Miss Jess and Miss T alongside our incredible faculty, lead a program built on strong technical training, individual mentorship, and a deep commitment to every student’s journey - both within dance and beyond.
