[MESSAGE FROM ABPDC 2026 ADJ CORE] 🍍
The 2026 edition of ABPDC will be contested and judged in accordance with the 2027 Ottawa WUDC Debating & Judging Manual with one amendment.

The adjudicator is to assess debates applying the standard of the ‘Ordinary Intelligent Australian Voter’. This is different, and should be substituted for, the ‘Ordinary Intelligent Voter’ described in the WUDC Manual.

The OIAV has **all the knowledge expected of the OIV** and **additional knowledge** **of Australia**. This includes a general awareness of Australian history, politics, culture, and current affairs. They would read but not memorise the front pages of a range of major Australian newspapers.

The OIAV has not read any specialist or technical literature on Australia. The OIAV has no particular pre-dispositions or views and, with the exception of their knowledge of Australia, is otherwise identical to the OIV.
