Joining the cast as Grigory Stepanovitch Smirnov in Anton Chekhov's 'The Bear' is Robin Egan.

More About Robin...

Robin Egan is back on the theatre scene to the sound of bated breath from his countable fans.

Robin will soon appear in A Midnight Social's The Elephant Song, playing Michael, a long-term patient in a psychiatric institution. Personally, he doesn't see the resemblance. A familiar face from many Brisbane Arts Theatre children's productions, Robin has appeared in roles ranging from Robin Hood and Mr Tumnus to Tigger. Venturing into the world of adult theatre has done little to halt his accumulation of noble titles, with his recent portrayal of Prince Humperdinck in The Princess Bride bringing his current tally to two princes and one lord. This resemblance, however, he finds uncanny.

Catch Robin in 'An Evening with Chekhov,' featuring semi-staged readings of 'The Proposal' and 'The Bear' in support of Hummingbird Theatre Company.

Join Hummingbird Theatre Company for a special one-night-only presentation of two of Anton Chekhov's most celebrated comic one-act plays: The Proposal and The Bear.

When most people hear the name Chekhov, they expect something serious.

What surprised me when I first encountered these plays was just how funny they are.

On Friday July 10th, Hummingbird Theatre Company is presenting 'An Evening with Chekhov,' featuring two of his most beloved comic one-act plays, 'The Proposal' and 'The Bear'.

These are stories filled with fiery arguments, oversized personalities, unexpected romance, and some truly ridiculous situations. More than a century after they were written, audiences are still laughing at them.

This special fundraiser will be presented as an intimate semi-staged reading, allowing the wit, humour, and heart of Chekhov's writing to take centre stage.

I'd love for you to join us for a wonderful evening of theatre, complimentary refreshments.
