Sounds Across Oceans is a new music organisation established by performer/composer/educator Dr. Anthony Garcia to explore and promote a more holistic vision of music and its role in society. Through innovative education programs, workshops, presentations and performances that focus on collaboration, improvisation and experimentation SAO builds bridges between genres, cultures and communities.

Get ready to kickstart the school holidays with an electrifying 55-minute K‑Pop dance spectacular that brings the colour, energy and infectious joy of K‑Pop culture to the stage of Brisbane City Hall. Featuring talented performers from Brisbane’s very own K‑Pop dance community, this high-energy show is inspired by a hit blockbuster K‑Pop kids movie and packed with everything families love about the genre.
Kids are invited to dress up as their favourite K‑Pop star, learn cool new dance moves, and sing along to the music. This is the ultimate school holiday event everyone will be talking about!

BEMAC transformed into a dynamic space where cultural boundaries dissolved and artistic traditions converged at 'Open Encounters' with Adelaide’s acclaimed Hyoshi in Counterpoint.

This intimate morning merged Japanese taiko drumming with Western classical traditions - alongside some of Brisbane’s finest creative practitioners. The audience experienced the creative process through live demonstration with the artists sharing their techniques, philosophies, and collaborative approaches. Another amazing event.

With traditional lion dancers, a market stall pop-up by Southside Restaurant and vibrant cultural programming, it was an afternoon to inspire. Street performers, DJs, and live music kept the energy pumping into the night, while bold, authentic flavours from Southside Restaurant fueled the festivities.

What an unforgettable way we galloped into 2026! An electrifying Lunar New Year celebration at the Band Stand, Mt Cootha Botanic Gardens brought to life in partnership with ABC Radio Brisbane. Huge thanks to our special guest MCs Kelly Higgins Devine and Ashwin Segkar who guided us through an unforgettable day that truly ignited the spirit of the Fire Horse with passion, energy and unbridled joy.

Lion Dancers leapt and twirled in a blaze of colour, followed by a high-energy Martial Arts showcase that left everyone breathless. We experienced the dazzling spectacle of Bollywood with its infectious rhythms and shimmering costumes, then were captivated by the enchanting Thai artistry of Peranya. Indigenous all-star duo 2.Za.Crowd brought powerful storytelling through music, while Brisbane's finest artist/DJ Saie set the perfect vibe with chill beats and soulful grooves that carried across the gardens.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made this event such a special day.

It was great to catch up yesterday with Anthony Garcia from Sounds Across Oceans, who partner with Brisbane City Council to deliver BrisAsia. 🎏✨

BrisAsia is a fantastic annual festival held around Lunar New Year, celebrating the rich cultures that make our city so vibrant and diverse.

I’d love to explore how we can bring a BrisAsia event to the Bayside… and I have to say, the wading pool could be the perfect spot for a beautiful lantern activation. 🌊🏮✨
