… and a final flourish from John Parker.

Thank you Topology and Trichotomy for last night’s concert, and everyone who attended - it was brilliant!!

Here’s a little grab from the sound check earlier in the day for your entertainment. I like to think of sound checks as my personal performance, which is just as well as this concert was sold out with no room left for the usherette. I put this in the nice-problem-to-have category.

Thank you also to Boyds-ThePianoShop for the beautiful grand piano that we get to enjoy in these performances - this baby (not actually a baby, but a grand, but let’s call it a baby) is available for purchase from Boyds.

And for our next trick, Nat Bartsch returns to Plant Empire on 22 November for her “Acceptance Does Not Mean Surrender” album launch. Tickets for this concert are available from plantempire.com.au (link in bio).

Here’s a little before and after action from a recent indoor garden reno project in Chelmer. The brief here was peace lilies, peace lilies and Spathiphyllums (peace lilies), but… I think there’s always room for a few Peperomias. Am I right?

These planters (9 metres of them!) had an automatic watering system that had failed, followed shortly afterwards by the plants, so some of the work needed was to revitalise the growing media before replanting. I used a mix of biostimulants, soil conditioner and fertiliser for this as well as a top-up of premium (as in, actually premium) potting mix. And yes, the watering system is also now working again, so these plant babies and their new owners can get on with living life.

Miss Jane is delivering an online mosaic planter workshop this weekend with participants from all around Australia. It’s so wonderful to see people come together for creative experiences like this. I’d like to say that no animals were injured in the process, but a (ceramic) frog did lose a toe in transit to Darwin, although nothing a bit of glue won’t fix… it is mosaics, after all! Stay tuned to see the final results tomorrow…

Jane’s next workshop is the big one: see our website for details on her week-long Masterclass in October at Plant Empire in Brisbane (link in bio).

What a beautiful night of music we have had tonight! Thank you Aust Romantic & Classical Orch for sharing your immense musical skills, knowledge and passion and to everyone who brought their ears to the performance - I counted every one and divided by two and was amazed at the turnout.

The chairs will have a brief stack before being unstacked again next week for Topology and Trichotomy’s performance of Elastic Time. I’m not saying it’s going to be our biggest ever concert, but I am saying that once you count the legs on each chair and divide by four, it’s a lot. I’ve also run some preliminary numbers on the performers and have added a piano and a keyboard plus drums and two double basses, and multiplied that by a violin, viola and saxophone and concluded that there’s going to be some big sounds next Sunday. Get your ticket to big sound Sunday online at plantempire.com..au (link in bio).
