Actors needed for a short film!
Hi everyone,
A group of QUT students/past students are creating a short film and we are looking for actors! This short film is a comedy drama following a young man's struggles growing up in a traditional clown family. Please see below for more details on who we are looking for.
These positions are unpaid, food provided.
Estimated filming period: 22-29 November

Marcel Kelly
Age: 18-25
Gender: Male
Role: Marcel is a shy, introverted young man, out of place amongst his wildly energetic family. He has grown up in a large family of clowns, but his real dream has always been to become a mime. He struggles to decide whether to tell his family who he really is, and risk disappointing them, or stay in the family business and risk losing himself.
Extra Information: Will be wearing lots of makeup, will have to learn small amounts of sign language (or otherwise know sign language already). Lots of humour in physicality as opposed to spoken word.
Pierre
Age: 18-25
Gender: Male
Role: Pierre is the best friend of main character Marcel, and a mime. He speaks only through sign language. A bit of a jokester, Pierre has helped Marcel realise who he is and is pushing Marcel to find the courage to tell his family.
Extra Information: Must speak AUSLAN fluently.
Kingsley Kelly
Age: 40-60
Gender: Male
Appearance: Big guy, wears a full clown costume with makeup and hair included. Booming voice, quite tall and heavily built.
Role: Father to main character Marcel, Kingsley is unintentionally intimidating through his large build and booming voice. He has grown up as a clown and takes pride in the business. He is the clear leader of the Kelly’s, and comes off as hardworking and strong but deep down, all he wants is to make people happy.
Extra Information: Must be able to intimidate but be playful.

Marcel’s mother: woman, 40-60, will be in full clown costume and makeup
Marcel’s brother: man, 18-25, full clown costume and makeup
Also need: Clowns of a diverse range of ages and appearances, full clown costumes and makeup
