So here's a sneak peak of the title and details of my brand new course …. just to build the anticipation🤭🤫
Title : Improbable botany
or how to build a botanical based body of work.
Course Outline :Improbable botany with Carolyn V Watson offers the beginner or experienced student an exciting
new short course focused on developing a series of image and object-based responses inspired by the botanical realm.
Over the nine-week course, we will explore a range of mark making, drawing and planning exercises in conjunction with direct tuition in adapting these ideas and images into sculptural forms. Using the botanical as our guide, students will have the opportunity to develop their observational skills and confidence in construction.
With a heavy scattering of whimsy, exaggeration and the improbable throughout this course, you may never look at plants the same way again.
Course will be offered on
Starting date : 29th April very, very
Wed morn 9:30 to 12:30 and
Thursday eve 6:30 to 9:30

Though still intrinsically linked to the self, it is much more about the sheer joy of experimentation and celebration of materiality. Existential angst has given away to consideration, while the deliberate erasure of recognisable features has led to renewed focus on surface, repetition and connections between unfamiliar forms. Unidentifiable as either animal or mineral, the sculptures no longer seek, nor a capable, of engagement with the audience. The works are riskier, their resolution more certain...”
