We are only two weeks away from Rising Stars, a stage for tomorrow’s most exciting performers.

2024 Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition winner Reuben Tsang brings Mozart’s elegant Piano Concerto No.23 to life, before Jake Lyle and Rebecca Goobanko take the stage for a dazzling selection of operatic favourites from Mozart, Rossini and Lehár.

The program also features Alice Chance's vibrant Colourburst, Holly Harrison's high-energy Fizzin’ Fury, and Dvořák’s thrilling Scherzo capriccioso.

Conducted by Luke Dollman, this is a rare opportunity to experience some of Queensland's most exciting emerging talent all in one unforgettable concert.

Last week QSO Donor Hans Westerman celebrated his 100th birthday, and we were privileged to be there for a special celebration where music created a connective thread across oceans and generations.

We are inspired by Hans' commitment to new music, and his collaboration with Composer Isabella Gerometta to create musical portraits of his extended family. Please join us in wishing Hans continued happiness and good health!

We had a wonderful day in the studio rehearsing for Maestro 4: Beethoven, Dvořák & Smetana.

Under the baton of Chief Conductor Umberto Clerici, Beethoven’s Symphony No.7 danced from the majestic nobility of its first movement to a finale of exhilarating power.

Tomorrow, we work through Smetana's The Bartered Bride Overture and Dvořák's Cello Concerto Op.104 with guest soloist Ivan Karizna - Cellist.

We cannot wait to share these masterworks with you.

"Early one morning, Peter opened the gate and walked out into the big green meadow."

There’s something magical about Peter and the Wolf.

Across six sold-out performances, we watched audiences laugh, gasp, and lose themselves in Prokofiev’s much-loved story.

Ed Le Brocq brought the tale to life with his trademark warmth and humour, while Jen Winley - Conductor led the musicians through every twist and turn of Peter’s adventure.

Audiences were also treated to the whirlwind of Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumblebee and the delight of Matthew Hindson's Dancing with Dinosaurs.

Special thanks to Krank'd Productions whose lighting design transformed our studio into a cinematic stage.

Seeing so many young people experience the thrill of live orchestral music, many for the first time, is a pretty special thing.

Thank you to everyone who made these performances unforgettable.
