Luke Murphy’s latest work is a gripping dance theatre piece about land, violence, and ownership, developed by the same creative team that delivered 2024 Brisbane Festival favourite Volcano at BRISBANE POWERHOUSE.

Set in rural Ireland in the mid-2000s and based on a 1965 play, Scorched Earth is a thrilling and thoughtful work, expanding and inverting genre tropes to explore ideas of place, power, and possession through the lens of Irish identity.

In a seaside town, two ideologically opposed newspapers fight for the soul of one man. Written over a century ago, Herink Ibsen's masterpiece prophesies a world of clashing echo chambers manipulated by the powers of new media.

Rosmersholm comes to life in the neo-gothic Albert Street Uniting Church, scored by the pipe organ; an epic battle between sacred tradition and secular freedom promises to grant new eyes for the modern condition.

Salad Days Collective produced the Queensland premiere season of Miriam Battye’s Scenes With Girls at PIP Theatre in 2024, their first year of works, and now bring it to Queensland Theatre Company as part of its DOOR 3 program and Brisbane Festival.

Delivered with authentic emotion and a deep sense of recognition, Scenes With Girls maps the shifting tectonic plates of formative female friendships with care and complexity. Playing until 19 September 💖

In the old CFA hall on the outskirts of town, a group of locals come together to sing and connect. Aseni, Barbara, Mack, Savannah and Totty have splintered from their original choir on a matter of principle and are intent on forging their own path. They have a new name, a space to rehearse, and a public debut booked. All they need now is to right the wrongs of the past...and find a song that pairs perfectly with the local winery’s Sangiovese.

A standing ovation in the QPAC Playhouse greeted the world premiere of Suzie Miller’s Strong is the New Pretty, a snappy 80-minute origin story of the AFLW presented as part of Brisbane Festival.

Miller’s heroic version of events distils years of training and campaigning into a neatly packaged overview of the AFLW’s origins, tethered by the infectious, inspiring energy of its early stars and supporters.

Second Coming, co-produced by Playlab Theatre and La Boite Theatre, is a contemplation of humanity’s near future, but so thematically crowded that it loses touch with the play’s human heart. This world premiere about a Mars mission in 2065 is weighed down by its own admirable ambition and the result, despite well-crafted design and strong actor performances, is ultimately a directionless scream into the void of space.
