Australia’s only international animotronic company is seeking a gifted and creative story board artist.
Due to the retirement of a member Screaming Furs has a position for a story board artist to join our Brisbane office.
Screaming Furs is a specialist animotronic production company, with over 30 years in international drama and aviation production
Due to recent retirements Screaming Furs currently have 2 positions available starting January ..
Screaming Furs is currently in production of the ground breaking Warner Brothers funded animotronic action series FURRED.
As a result storyboard referencing for our productions is required.
FURRED is a Bourne like action series and is the story of the rumbustious Nordic bear, CB, and his adventures in the Metropolis of Metro.
We employ a floating 60 member production team and 14 contractors, across 23 positions and 14 filming locations, including Australia’s largest vehicle and jib departments and employ a further 14 external sub-contractors.
We operate a full two unit three camera animotronic team out of both our Brisbane. and, Los Angeles production offices.
Screaming Furs are a Warner Brothers affiliate, and a specialist in multi camera action.
To achieve this program SFP deploys 16 animotronic animals, 19 actors and a 62 person floating crew, including 4K cameras, a dynamic requiring that every shot be storyboarded.
Screaming Furs are currently rapping season 1 and are seeking story artists and contractors for season 2, commencing January 2019.
Our team also produces property and aviation production and as such the successful applicants will also be deployed on aviation, faith and property programing.
Role Skills and Duties
Working under direction to time lines and with daily liaison with the Director, animotronic operators and the DOP, the appointee’s responsibilities is to draw scene content from character depiction through mid and background frame detail
Duties include drawing and production of shot and scene storyboards, location drawings, visual character profiles and manual and computerised storyboarding.
Experience with production of animal characterures, scene story boarding and animal characters is required
A background in creation of drama storyboards is necessary or in the drafting of cartoons or in the development of advance animal imagery. Experience in CGI will be advantageous
Experience with, or an ability to produce both manual storyboards and computer generated storyboards is required.
The position involve the successful candidate employing both manual line work and computerised artistry, working with the Director Production, script writers, our DOP and Producer in the design of shot content and production of story boards and location drawings.
Drawing content under direction is a central component of the position. A person possessing either animal characterure or studio animation experience is sought.
An Applicant with animal depiction skills will be highly valued.
Experience in working to sequence and continuity planned storyboarding is required.
Reference to standardised character imagery is central to the role.
Due to lead in times for production the successful artist is required from January 6 to produce story boards and locations diagrams.
An option to work under either contract, or on a out source basis is available.
Training in developing storyboards for action scenes will be provided.
An opportunity for the successful individual to work from home is offered. The new contractor will be supplied with a high seed datalink to enable timely file transfers to our Brisbane and Los Angeles offices.

The role would suit a an individual with a background in the development of character drawings
Duties include refinement and development of storyboards from director supplied roughs.
The role is a crucial position, as every shot in all of Screaming Furs diverse programming family are framed from storyboards
Remuneration consummate with the roles responsibilities is offered, in line with the award, and offers a 5% performance loading.
An industry based health plan is available.
International air travel to facilitate your role is incorporated.
Non standard hours are part of the role.
As such the successful applicant will work to ensure scene boards are complete 6 weeks before shooting
With these responsibilities you will be a central member of the Screaming Furs Australian Team.
Experience with storyboard programs and experience in desk top publishing and possession of affiliated qualifications is required.
A background in rendering and drawing of multiple characters and animal scenes is an advantage.
The position will suit an individual who is skilled at depicting animal characters, and who thrives in a small creative and artistic drawing environment.

The position involves daily reference to standardised character imagery.
The successful applicant will accompany location assessment teams to prospective and current filming locations to gain detailed knowledge of location features
As such you will liaise with the Director, DOP and animotronic team on shot content, framing and, lighting
Experience with animation software will be highly regarded.
A background in visual character drawing is sought and experience in storyboard production with an animation studio will be favorably considered.
Liaison with our production partners at Warner Brothers is central to the role and includes annual travel to Los Angeles in support of production and program meetings. This aspetc of the role will involve short term deployments to our Los Angeles office.
The position interacts with and reports to the Director Production.
