Announce - Melb band Raised by Eagles- coming to QLD on their Aussie Tour!
Raised By Eagles: I Must Be Somewhere
Luke Sinclair – vocals/guitarsNick O'Mara – vocals/lead guitars/lap steel Johnny Gibson – drumsLuke Richardson – bassIt’s hard to believe it’s barely been four years since Raised By Eagles played their first live show. With two acclaimed albums already under their belt – their eponymous 2013 debut and 2015’s Diamonds in the Bloodstream – the Melbourne band have recently released their third album, I Must Be Somewhere, - once again to unanimous rave reviews.Still, it’s not so much what this band has achieved in such a short time – a Best Country Album nomination at The Age Music Victoria Awards in 2013 for their first album, winning the same award along with Best Emerging Artist for Diamonds two years later, major festival slots including two Americana Festivals in Nashville – but how they’ve done it.You’d swear Luke Sinclair, Nick O’Mara, Johnny Gibson and Luke Richardson grew up playing music together. See Raised By Eagles live and it’s as if they draw breath together. Then there’s the music itself; it’s evocative, old-soul Americana coming out of men surely not old enough to play it with such integrity, sincerity and presence – but they do.It’s not just fans and critics Raised By Eagles have wooed – they’ve also earned the respect of their peers. Just ask fellow Melbourne artist Liz Stringer, who dubbed their music “a great, enduring romance”. And the success of Diamonds also earned the ear of ABC Music; I Must Be Somewhere is the band’s first release on the discerning label.“It’s a bit of a new process for us, “says Sinclair of being a ‘signed’ band. “You end up with deadlines, which is a new thing for us.” The band spent three months in early 2017 recording at Shane O’Mara’s Yikesville studio in Yarraville. The album’s cracking opening track and first single, Shape & Line, has already been getting plenty of airplay, but just wait ‘til you hear the rest of it. Heartbreaker, and its tale of a man afraid to love, showcases Sinclair’s knack for a turn of phrase that’s been obvious since his previous band the Idle Hoes, influenced as much by hip-hop as that of country giants such as John Prine, Doug Sahm and Jerry Jeff Walker. But listen also to the perfect country-pop of the O’Mara-penned Nowhere, and you’ll know that gun songwriting is something this band has in spades.Although they happily sit under the Americana umbrella, don’t expect more of the same, track after track; Sinclair believes I Must Be Somewhere is “one of the most versatile records we’ve ever made.”“There’s tracks that sound like they could have been on the first two [albums], but there’s also much bigger ‘produced’ stuff, and also some songs that don’t sound like us as well,” he says.Media Contact: Annie Johnsson Publicity E: [email protected] l M: +61 403 831 809 l P: +613 5221 4848

Early this morning, the ‘Lock-Out Laws’ instigated and pushed by the Palaszczuk Government that could realistically bring the obliteration of not just our local live music scene, but possibly the very future of Queensland as a culturally thriving and economically functioning state, were passed. This impetuous and reckless decision has shocked us here at PowerMouth Entertainment and clearly also many, many Queenslanders, going by the explosion on Facebook today.

Without getting into the many reasons that this law is as much dubious as it is dangerous (as Facebook is booming with great and valid points, insights, concerns and suggestions), we want to make a public statement in support of the immediate reversal of these absurd laws and of any groups or individuals seeking to achieve the same.

We believe that live music is an integral part of our culture, society and international appeal as a country to be visited. The Gold Coast especially is built on tourism and entertainment. Not only will these laws damage the futures of professional musicians and the businesses that employ them, they could destroy Queensland’s economic viability entirely.

We are concerned and we want to stop this. Palaszczuk Government – you need to respond to all of the people asking questions.

Here are ours:

- Considering the hit that NSW businesses copped follow the introduction of lock-out laws (whose long-term effects are still to be seen), what is your plan to combat the inevitable rise in unemployment and business closures in Queensland?

- You claim to have had 75% support in one poll – the public outcry on your page would suggest otherwise. Where are the complete results (or links to) the polls you’ve mentioned whose statistics show support for these laws?

- Why are the casinos exempt from the lock-out laws and how did they achieve the exemption (please don’t say it’s because it’s a gambling establishment, because most pubs and clubs have poker machines)?

- How will alcohol-fueled violence be controlled when everyone is kicked outdoors and trying to get home at the same time? Are extra resources going to be spent on policing and relevant services during peak times, or are you expecting the masses of people to all behave themselves?

- Which mode of transport will you recommend as being the safest and most reliable to those heading home, considering trains will not be operating for several hours? Will there be enough taxis for everyone?

- Are you concerned for the safety of people (especially young women dressed in nightclub attire) that may be stranded on the streets trying to find a way to get home? Won’t this be a beacon to sexual predators?

- What research have you put into the impact on domestic violence statistics and services, considering so many more people will be drinking at home? Will the relevant services receive additional funding

- Considering that people may opt to take more drugs in the absence of available alcohol, what are your plans to combat the potential increase in drug-fueled violence?

- People are supplying some very valid information online suggesting that not only are the statistics you’re putting forward in support of this move dubious, but possibly gravely flawed. Why aren’t you responding?

We appreciate any updates, links or information that anyone has on this important matter. A Government is meant to act on behalf of its people, so let’s give ours the feedback it needs.

Let’s change this.
