🌳 🎉 HAPPY SECOND BIRTHDAY! 🎉 🌳
Today marks two years since the debut of 'What's In The Woods?' at Backbone Festival in 2024. Our little show is growing up so fast!
Over the last two years our woods have sprouted across Australia, from Townsville all the way to Adelaide, with over 300 performances nationwide, with 14 runs occurring at .
They've been home to 3 storytelling gnomes Leaf (Sean), Petal (Mia) and Blossom (Martelle), who have been supported by Hollie, Stephen, and Aimee to welcome just shy of 5,000 families to their first performing arts experiences.
We have also been supported by passionate presenters, front of house and back of house teams at venues across the country, for which we couldn't be more grateful.
The production's success over the last two years has also spurred on the Backbone Theatre For Babies program, which has now had 7 productions feature in the lineup, and there's more to come.
We're so grateful for initial support that made this production happen from Creative Australia, and the support Backbone receives from Arts Queensland and Brisbane City Council which allows for us to continue presenting the work to our community. We're also grateful for funding from Adelaide Fringe, Arts Unlimited and Arts South Australia for enabling the touring of the production in 2025.
Mostly we are grateful for our audiences, the families that have come once, twice, or even thirty five times to visit our woods. The families that have shared us with their parent groups and friends. The families who have shared the magic of the theatre with their children. We hope our cosy woodland has made you arts lovers for life. We would not be here without you.
This Thursday we return to Backbone Festival and The Ron Hurley Theatre with a brand new Stargazing special of 'What's In The Woods?', the perfect way to celebrate this milestone.
