Tonight our fabulous fish dive into the unknown with the debut of 'SPLISH, SPLASH, SPLOSH' at the DPS Lab showcase performance at the Princess Theatre.

Through Dead Puppet Society's Lab program we have developed this new piece of design-led, visual, clown comedy, alongside Stephen Quinn, over the past few months and we are so excited to give Brisbane audiences it's very first taste of the work this evening.

Take a dip into the world of our new show Splish, Splash, Splosh with these behind the scenes photos of our recent WIP showing from Dean Hanson.

Dive into a whimsical world of underwater wonder with Splish, Splash, Splosh. Three funny fish set out to find their school in a shifting aquatic world, filled to the brim with clowning, puppetry and sensory surprises.
Equal parts ridiculous and beautiful, Splish, Splash, Splosh is a joyful visual comedy for all ages that explores what it means to belong - in a very fishy way.

Join us on Wednesday 19th of August at The Princess Theatre, Brisbane for Dead Puppet Society's DPS Lab showings and be the first to experience this joyful new work.

🌲It's our BIGGEST season ever!🌲

This season of 'What's In The Woods?' at Backbone in Brisbane we have welcomed the most families since opening the show in 2024!

Our team want to thank everyone who has come and experienced the woods, not only over the last four weeks, but since we began this production. It holds a really special place in our hearts, and we're glad it's meant so much to you too. Thank you for enjoying the show, sharing it with your friends and family and making it the success that it is.

And this season is not over yet! There's still one more day of very special Christmas in July themed shows to go on Saturday 25th of July.

Extremely limited remaining tickets, do not miss out!

On average our ticket price for our immersive, theatrical experience for babies, infants and toddlers 'What's In The Woods?' is $20, which admits one adult and one child to a session filled with performance, puppetry and play.

Today as part of our National Tour fundraiser we're asking you to donate the equivalent amount of a ticket to help bring the production to more families throughout remote, regional and metropolitan Australia.

$20 to introduce a child under three years old to the theatre for the first time.
$20 to invite a family to a safe, welcoming arts experience.
$20 to help build community amongst young families across Australia.
$20 to help tackle isolation and improve the mental health of parents and carers.

Today even $20 will make a huge difference to getting What's In The Woods? out on the road.

Donate now through the link in our bio or at https://artists.australianculturalfund.org.au/s/project/a2EMn00000h1hQLMAY/whats-in-the-woods-national-tour

When you support our EOFY fundraiser you're directly supporting our team bringing developmentally appropriate theatre for babies, infants and toddlers to remote, regional and metropolitan communities across Australia.

So who's on the team?

🌲 Hollie Bryan 🌲
Hollie is the driving force behind the Backbone Theatre For Babies program. An accomplished theatre maker and performer Hollie hails from the UK where she has performed on stages big and small from the Edinburgh Fringe and Off West End to the Wales Millennium Centre. Earlier this year she was recognised as an 'Inspiring Woman Of Toowong' by Toowong Village for her work building communities through theatre for the youngest of audiences and their families. Inspired by her own experiences as a mother Hollie started making theatre for very young audiences to help tackle isolation parents and carers can experience while raising a child, while creating positive, safe and welcoming arts experiences to encourage a lifelong love of the arts from day one.

Hollie is often the first person you'll meet at a performance of 'What's In The Woods?' as she welcomes you to the venue and gives you a run down of what you can expect at that day's performance, but behind the scenes she's an absolute powerhouse creating, designing and crafting our shows, sets, props and costumes whilst also smashing out all the administration that goes into running an ever-growing arts program dedicated to children under 3, whilst raising her own child as well!

We're not entirely sure where she finds the time, but we're so grateful for everything she does.

This EOFY you can help Hollie by contributing to our National Tour fundraiser. Donations ensure our production reaches families across Australia, and directly supports the artists involved in touring the work for an extended period of time- including Hollie!

Visit the link in our bio or below to donate before June 30 (all donations over $2 are also tax deductible)

This year alongside Backbone we will be touring our theatre for very young audiences production 'What's In The Woods?' to remote, regional and metropolitan families across four Australian States.

This is an important work that not only delivers developmentally appropriate and sensory stimulating performances to the youngest of audiences, but provides a safe, welcoming environment for young families and carers to combat isolation, improve post-partum mental health and connect with community.

Your support will help get this important work from Brisbane to Kalgoorlie, with lots of stops in between.

Plus, all donations over $2 are tax deductible, so this End Of Financial Year make a BIG difference for the littlest of audiences.

From September, 'What's In The Woods?' is hitting the road on a National Australian Tourβ€” with dates in QLD, NSW, VIC, SA, and WA β€” bringing sensory theatre tailor made for babies and toddlers to families in metro, regional and remote locations, giving them the opportunity to crawl into our cosy woods for the first time!

This is carefully crafted, deeply researched work for the youngest audiences. The kind that doesn't happen very often, and doesn't travel very far.

To change that, and support the work we're doing to connect with families, grow community, and provide developmentally appropriate and accessible work for audiences no matter where they're from, we're attempting to raise $20,000 through the Australian Cultural Fund. With EOFY here, it's also a great time to do something good for your tax return. Backbone Youth Arts is DGR registered, so every donation to our fundraiser over $2 is tax deductible.

Help us bring this magical production to families across Australia, to find out more and donate visit:
