🌟 Activist of the Year 2025 🌟
I was honoured and surprised to receive the Activist of the Year Award at this years .pride Queens Ball Awards. Thank you so much everyone who voted for me for my work with to help HALT domestic and family violence, as well as the other bits and pieces I’ve supported this year.
Like I said on the night, Activism is easy for someone like me. The consequences of me standing up for others are very low. But there are many people who are activists every single day of their lives, simply by way of their existence.
The world is a scary place right now, so if you are not feeling the pinch or feeling scared about what might happen to you based on your identity, race, gender, physical ability or sexuality, you are probably in a position of power and privilege. I implore you to get a little bit uncomfortable, and stand up for those who can’t always safely stand up for themselves.
We can’t rely on those impacted by hate, abuse, intolerance and bigotry to lead the charge. Activism and progress is everyone’s responsibility.
So much love and thanks to the Brisbane community for again seeing something in me worth celebrating. I will always fight for what is right. ❤️
