This page is a celebration of women- Voluptuous Women- and my contribution to the Body Positive movement. Fine art and images curated from my sessions modelling for artists as well as poetry and musings about body image will be shared. As an experienced life model, I have gathered hundreds of artworks as part of my folio. Artists have shared these on their online pages, yet I never have. I created
this page as a response to growing concern about body dysmorphia in women of all ages and to contribute to the body positive movement. Breaking the patterns of body dysmorphia perpetuated by toxic media, letting go of the judgement and comparison perpetuated by social stereotypes is no easy task. It has taken courage to step into the public domain and share these images - but I do so wish that it may empower other women in their Body Positive journey and act as part of a counterbalance to the images typically portrayed of women in the modern age. I realise of course, that body dysmorphia is an issue that affects women (and people generally) of all shapes and sizes. However this page is devoted to naturally Voluptuous Women, because I see less portrayal and positive affirmation of this body type today. Body Dysmorphia has had more attention recently, with a focus on how social media drives this. I see the bodies applauded as socially acceptable, portrayed by influencers and the media, become thinner and thinner or leaner and more and more muscular, and often if a woman has curves, they are artificial. Fad diets, obsessive exercise regimes, invasive plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures seem to be the order of the day. Curves used to be trending- just look at most classical art: feminine, soft, curves: plump buttocks, full bellies and ample bosoms abound. I think about how I would feel if I had a daughter and what I would wish for her. I would love for her to feel that she could accept her body as it is naturally. I would love media to reflect images of women of all shapes and sizes in their natural state.
