Introducing the beautifully authentic cast member

✨Rose✨

Rose is excited to be performing in Loving Ashes with Sun and Wine Arts after performing with them in the productions of Magda’s Fascination with Wax Cats as Magda, Compass as Audrey, and in the production of Playthings as Lucy. She also recently graduated from the Queensland Academies of the Creative Industries, pursuing theatre as her elected art, and performing in their productions of Muse Ignite, What The Ostrich Saw, Whatever Happened to Mitchell Caster, and Medea. Rose intends to study theatre in the near future, aiming to broaden her capabilities and bloom into the theatrical Rose she’s always aspired to be!

Introducing our our creative sound designer

✨Taigh Saville✨

Taigh is a filmmaker and sound designer who’s been involving himself in shows in Brisbane over the past six years. A love for audio and video editing lead him to a Cert III in Screen and Media at TAFE in 2024, a year spent volunteering at his local radio station and dozens of soundscapes made for his home d&d campaign. When out of the mixing lab his free time is spent making even more noise on his guitar.

✨Hamish Chappell✨

Hamish Chappell (he/him) Hamish is a multi-disciplined theatre practitioner specialising primarily in acting, directing, and producing. Since graduating with a Bachelor’s of Acting and Performance in 2022, he works tirelessly to put on a variety of shows for SWAC as Executive Producer.

Introducing another brilliant member of our cast!

✨Josie Yar✨

Josie made their theatre debut in the early 2000's, before getting distracted by jobs, children, uni and general adulting. By the time Covid lockdowns had lifted, Josie was both ready to leave the house and over watching their children getting all the applause in their performing endeavours, so started acting lessons with Brisbane Arts Theatre. Since then Josie has enjoyed performing with Brisbane Arts, Centenary Theatre Group, Sunnybank Theatre Group, and Ipswich Little Theatre.

Josie's distractions have included time as a classical music teacher/performer, Priest, school chaplain, disability support worker, and social worker. Their biggest and most loved distractions remain their three children, three cats, and most importantly, their dog.

Introducing another beautifully talented cast member -

✨Tim Buckney✨

After participating in a Brisbane Arts Theatre Adult Musical Theatre class and getting singing lessons, Tim has been strutting his stuff on Brisbane stages for 5 years. Being big and bald has landed him many character roles such as Shrek in Shrek the Musical and Fred Colon in Night Watch at Brisbane Arts Theatre, Bustopher Jones in Cats for Queensland Musical Theatre and most recently Alfred Doolittle in Introspect Theatre’s Pygmalion. Other credits include Barfee in Spelling Bee, King Triton in The Little Mermaid and ensemble roles in Our House and Morporkian Nights (BAT) and Beauty and the Beast (MBT). Tim is thrilled to be playing one of his idols and bucket list characters of Alfred Doolittle.

UPDATE 🐾 🖤

Hello all, an unfortunate announcement regarding Loving Ashes.

Due to a series of hurdles, we have had to do a significantly reduced rehearsal season for this project and will instead be doing a Staged Reading.

What does this mean for the performance? There may be some scenes when actors still have scripts on stage. We will be employing some technical elements, but the primary focus will be the text itself.

While this is still an unfortunate blow, given the nature of the piece we don’t believe that a Staged Reading is a damaging compromise. We will persist in sharing these stories and this season will help develop the show for future work.
