While the play was primarily blithe, it explored issues of adultery, madness and hypocrisy in marriages and relationships. It made me reflect on human’s behaviours by exposing and mocking the ugliness of lies, pretence and power in society. “Let love be without hypocrisy”.

Dario Fo’s absurd comedy ‘The Virtuous Burglar’ at Anywhere Festival Brisbane was not what I was expecting. What a delight and a surprise!

Genie’s quest to improve her health pushes her into a world of dieting, bootcamps, swamp juice, influencers and toxic friendships. Presented at the Old Jojo’s Restaurant, audiences spectate Genie’s internal and external battles when trying to find the good amongst the misleading. Along the way, Genie will uncover uncomfortable truths about herself and her place in the world.

Proudly supporting the Butterfly Foundation. 15% of ticket sales will be donated to Butterfly to help continue their mission of supporting people with eating disorders and body image concerns.

Things turn from bad to worse when their respective spouses arrive, along with the burglar's zany wife. As the night explodes into tales of betrayal, adultery, and accusations of polyamory, the only one left 'innocent' is the confused burglar.

A new, contemporary adaptation set in Brisvegas where gender politics and class are at the center of this wild farce at the old Jo Jo’s restaurant on Melbourne Street in South Brisbane.

Introducing the Assistant Production Manager for The Virtuous Burglar: Llena Vinilda

Llena (pronounced Le-yeh-na) is a Brisbane-based model, mother, and actress. She has been commercial modeling for 6 years, working with big brands such as Calvin Klein, Michael Hill Jeweller, and Channel 9’s The Today Show. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Stage and Screen Acting at the Australian Performing Arts Conservatory and aspires to play big roles in notable film/tv and stage productions. Llena is a lively person who loves to perform and be in front of the camera. Her passion and dedication for her art are one of a kind whether it's in her modeling, acting on screen and on stage, and even for her Tik Tok videos.

She promises this is a hilarious show that you really don't want to miss!

Introducing the Stage Manager for The Virtuous Burglar: Carina Parsons

Carina is a Brisbane-based actor who recently moved here from Wellington, New Zealand. She has maintained a passion for acting since a young age. During her career, she has studied a Bachelor of Film and Philosophy at Victoria University of Wellington as well as completed a number of screen acting courses. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Stage and Screen Acting at the Australian Performing Arts Conservatory. Most notably, she recently made her theatre debut as Juliet in 'Romeo and Juliet' (Directed by Matthew Scholten).

This is her debut as a Stage Manager for a production so be sure to come and watch The Virtuous Burglar!

Introducing the Production Manager of The Virtuous Burglar: Kathryn Becher

Kathryn is a Brisbane-based actor who is currently completing her Bachelor of Stage and Screen Acting at the Australian Performing Arts Conservatory. She has starred in a variety of theatre pieces including 'All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane' (2019) and 'The Land Mine is Me' (2020). She has also starred in several short films over the years, most recently as a supporting role in 'Diana' (Directed by Jesse Sutherland). She has experience with singing and dancing and has also performed stand-up comedy. This project is her debut as a Production Manager. She is a passionate and energetic creative who brings this personality to every role.

She is also playing the role of Second Burglar in The Virtuous Burglar so you definitely don't want to miss the show!

Introducing Matthew Gregory as Phillipe Dubois in The Virtuous Burglar

Matthew is a Brisbane-based actor. He has recently completed his Bachelor of Screen and Stage Acting at the Australian Performing Arts Conservatory. The Virtuous Burglar is his debut theatre show. In this production, he is playing the role of Phillipe Dubois as well as having his first experience as Set Designer. He brings a certain flair and personality to Phillipe that really brings the character to life. He is a fun and creative guy who is excited to bring his comedic nature and unique style to the roles he interprets.

Introducing Lachie Mackie as Julia Dubois in The Virtuous Burglar

Lachie is an emerging Brisbane based actor, who performs in both theatre and screen. Lachie recently graduated with a Bachelor of Stage and Screen Acting at the Australian Performing Arts Conservatory with the rest of the loveable cast of The Virtuous Burglar. He also recently performed as Mercutio in ‘Romeo and Juliet’ directed by Matt Scholten. Through the conservatory, he also trained under the wisdom of some of the best in the business. The likes of Sean Dennehy, Kerith Atkinson, Heidi Gledhill and Mirko Grillini. Lachie is an actor to keep your eye on in the near future.
