Started on growing the local population a little more.
With my print farm banging away, there were other things I can get on with and still be near to check on print progress.
I've even managed to use some of the crappy Chinese ones, which really are dribs of plastic. Never buy those again...shockers.
Went a little Dr Frankenstein severing odd limbs and reattaching for different poses. Otherwise, took a page out of Tim McLaughlin's book and limited my colour palette to darker blues, browns and black. I have a blue that has separated it's composition somewhat that gives me a fabulous denim look. Luckily, my peeps are 87 times smaller than real ones, so it should outlast me.
Anyhoo, got a dozen or so done it was time to place them on the layout. Didn't take too long, but can't be rushed. Some scored a free tour of the place until being doomed to being glued to get to one spot.

Well, in the 3d printing arena, this is considered a fail. I've had worse but it's annoying when you left it to print overnight only to see this in the morning.
Lifted, stringed and warped . 1 out 23 ain't bad.

I had printed the letters a couple of years ago then realised a small error so I bagged them and put them away. Recently, I was in a general making mood for something outside of my trains, so I had at it. Ordered some warm glow 3mm LEDs and wound up with this .
I had one of my old surfing beaches in mind. What if I had built a really big concrete thing with metal marquee letters that light up?
So, imagine this standing near South Cronulla beach in the park and sitting against one end having a sausage roll and a Coke.

If trains aren't your thing, what about slot cars?!!!

Time to upload some pics of one of my latest projects. Some years ago, we gave my brother a Scalextric slot car set . Boy in the man kinda thing . Well, clearing out my childhood home, my Faller gear was still in good condition so I brought it home. It'd be nice to get it going again. I thought this brand of stuff would be like hen's teeth but I was mistaken. About the same time, I was watching more historic motorsport in the UK and Europe. Having paid too much for 50 year old little cars, I discovered B4slot in Germany who produce high-quality 1/64 (S scale) slot cars .
I still don't have room for a 1/32 layout, so I went all in and built a small 1/64 slot car layout.
I will make another using routed wood sheet for more realism, but this will suffice quite well in the meantime using the Faller track. 3 lanes is my preferred, but two will do for now .
It's set in the French/Italian/ German/ Swiss border regions... I know, I know, but right now, I can't decide.

Originally a model of Chevy Coca Cola truck, it had a bright red cab and canary yellow bed and sides. I wasn't happy with that , so I had at it to tone it down to a more realistic motif. It came out a lot better than I expected.

I started this project behind my shed in my rainforest four years ago. I finally got it done!! A sandstone outcrop.
Having observed the basic lump for that time and also close inspection of sandstone back in Sylvania, I noticed real sandstone left in the open develops a light grey tone. Only deep under sheltered portions retain the broader colours of white, yellow or red . I also noted how the base lump of my work was developing black crevasses and moss. So instead of throwing all sorts of colour in the mix etc , I'll just throw a little over in and let it age. I'm pretty sure it'll weather quite well.
My previous efforts had black dusted on along with ocres. They're holding up well but I think for the larger outcrops I'll use as little as possible and let nature do it's thing.

Latest addition. In accordance with trying to clean the shed up a little, I am reducing the number of kit boxes. Here's one I prepared earlier.
I've had this Kibri kit for around 20 years . I planned a spot for it ... it's time. This a repair in place track (RIP Track) where Rollingstock can be rolled into for minor repairs such a repair or replace trucks, bearings, brake system parts etc.
