Aseni has a warm and memorable presence, radiating a positive and hopeful outlook. She is also a devoted mother and is currently expecting her next little one.

Bringing Aseni to life is the wonderful Brightholly Nininahazwe! Initially drawn to directing, Brightholly was captivated by the power of visual storytelling. Along the way, she discovered a passion for acting and the opportunity it offers to explore different perspectives and bring meaningful stories to life.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Acting in 2024 and has since explored a diverse range of stories both within and beyond NIDA.

Her credits include Romeo and Juliet (Juliet, 2023), An Octoroon by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins (Minnie, 2024), The Effect by Lucy Prebble (Dr James, 2025), and In the Next Room by Sarah Ruhl (Elizabeth, Understudy, 2025).

Barbara has grace, charm and warmth in abundance! These qualities and a belief that music heals, makes her the perfect Choirmaster!

Bringing to life Choirmaster Barbara is Catarina Hebbard! Catarina is an award-winning director, actor, producer, voice artist, mentor and teacher who has spent 30+ years saying “yes” to just about every kind of storytelling going.

From theatre, film and TV to radio, opera and musical theatre; from classrooms to children’s theatre and inclusive practice, Catarina loves making work that connects, surprises and occasionally misbehaves. Catarina has a wonderfully eclectic performance career, spanning theatre, screen, voice and more, including The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. She is Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of indelarts and Co-Founder of BC Productions, and has directed for Queensland Theatre Company, QUT and APAC. Her work with indelarts includes the award-winning Wilbur the Optical Whale, which toured across Australia.

Beau is a quiet, reserved young man navigating personal struggles who slowly finds unexpected connection and a sense of belonging within a local community choir.

Bringing Beau to life is Benjamin Cole! After deciding upon a career in the performing arts in 2023 and completing a Diploma of Musical Theatre at Valmy Academy in 2024, Benjamin Cole has committed himself whole heartedly to this goal. He was contracted with PIP Theatre for 4 show seasons throughout 2025, and is thrilled to be back again. Recent shows include Singing in the Rain (24hr Musical), Mary Poppins (QMT) and Young Frankenstein (Millennial Prod.).

Bringing Mack to life is Gemma Galley, an actor, dialect coach, award-winning filmmaker and occasional playwright. Classically trained at the Queensland Conservatorium and WAAPA, Gemma has worked extensively across stage and screen, with roles ranging from a shearer to a sixteenth-century recusant. After years touring Australia and South-East Asia with Interactive Theatre International, she’s delighted to make her PIP Theatre debut 🥳

PIP's 2ND Main Stage show for 2026 is HERE 😮‍💨🎉

The Heartbreak Choir by Aidan Fennessy is coming to Brisbane in just under 3 weeks! Our wonderful cast will be joined by local community choir for our finishing number of, 'Our Little Town' written by !

A little about the play....
In the old CFA hall on the outskirts of town, a small group of locals come together to sing, and to connect. Aseni, Barbara, Mack, Savannah and Totty have splintered from their original choir on a matter of principle and are intent on forging their own path. With their latest recruit Peter along for the ride, they have a new name, a space to rehearse in and a public debut booked. All they need now is to right the wrongs of the past … and to find a song that pairs perfectly with the local winery’s Sangiovese.
