Hi everyone, I’ve been working on a new project and I’d love your support

Introducing my new podcast, ‘Blak Justice’. is a podcast sharing the lived realities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people impacted by the justice system in Australia.

For many of our families and communities, the justice system isn’t something distant or foreign, it’s something we live with, whether through our own experiences or through the people we love, it impacts our community in every way. Too often these conversations happen about our mob without hearing directly from the people living it.

Hosted by Carly Wallace, Blak Justice creates a space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to share their stories, experiences and truths about the justice system. These are stories of survival, strength and truth.

Blak Justice is presented and produced by Dulguburra Yidinji woman Carly Wallace on the lands of the Yaggera and Turrbal peoples in Brisbane. The presenter and producers of this podcast pays respect to elders past and present. This land was never ceded, this always was, and always will be Aboriginal land.

Podcast Artwork and sounds by Courage Kahananui.

Blak Justice, streaming now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube and iheart radio. Please like, follow, share or listen & support independent Blak media 🫶🏽

Today is National ; a day where we reflect on the injustices of The Stolen generation & it’s survivors. As Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, we are intrinsically connected to each other by our culture and kinship.

Racist government policies that removed First Nations children was an intentional form of genocide to disrupt our people’s and our connection. Today we remember those who were stolen, those had their babies taken and those who are still finding their way back to their mob & culture ❤️‍🩹

With the talk and actions of erasing or limiting ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ in workplaces and business in Australia and the world, I have personally seen a significant decrease in bookings/purchases for my business Durban Bagii weaving.

The Voice referendum failure, the cost of living and and the conservative push to streamline ‘diversity to inclusion’ has seen my and other small Aboriginal business take hits with less bookings and sales.

I started Durban Bagii out of a deep love of sharing my Aboriginal culture and weaving creations. In my workshops, I tell stories of traditional weaving practices, my stories & see people come together to engage in an ancient form of cultural practice in their events, businesses and organisations, it’s truely magical to see.

Weaving may not always seem like much, but the act of engaging with black businesses and Aboriginal female owmed businesses by booking my workshops or buying my creations means my voice and the stories of my people continue to stay alive.

Amongst all the noise and the attempts of eraser, Indigenous businesses like mine are still here and are still hoping to engage with companies, events and departments. Reconciliation is a two way journey, so I hope you can meet me half way.

To support me and my business, please get in touch about retail products, weaving workshops and more. I’d love to yarn and connect www.durbanbagii.com
