We did it! ✨ What an honour for QMF to be awarded the 2026 Music Cities Award for Music Tourism for QLD Music Trails: The Outback 2025 in a ceremony in Hull, UK. 🏆

This award is a testament to our team, the artists and funding partners we work with, and the Outback Queensland communities who welcomed us with open arms. 🏜️

It’s the third year we’ve won in the Music Tourism category, recognising our social and economic impact in the regional and remote Queensland communities we visit.

Thank you to Sound Diplomacy for the award, and congratulations to all the other award winners and finalists!

Few things say the Queensland Outback like caravanning in the red dirt, great live music, delicious food, and even better company! 🤠🏜️

We held a pop-up lunch at the Woolshed Bar & Grill at Longreach Tourist Park, where our Trail Travellers were serenaded by local singer Corinne Ballard 🎵

It’s moments like these we love bringing to you all on the Outback Trail, and the 2026 Trail was our biggest and most successful yet. ✨

Thanks to Hampshire Holidays for partnering with us to bring this event to life in Longreach!

This year's Outback Trail was our biggest and most ambitious Trail yet, with more communities, bigger audiences and more artists. 🤠

Across 1400km of Outback Queensland, from Charleville to Mount Isa, we brought together live music, community and culture. ✨

It takes a village to put on so many epic events in remote places, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our partners, supporters and local communities in Outback Queensland. 🏜️

Our Outback Sounds networking event brought together some of these people. Thanks to Andii Mihay Events for the event styling at this event and our VIP area at Outback Sounds 🙌

And thanks to everyone who made this Outback Trail our biggest yet! Let's do it all again in the Reef, shall we? 🎵

Barcaldine’s iconic Tree of Knowledge, on the lands of the Iningai people, was the location for Outback Exchange as part of the Outback Trail 2026.

A celebration of storytelling, music, and connection, we heard poetry from local First Nations community, and conversations with artists Leroy Wilson, Good Will Remedy and Tori Darke.

The town is also where it all began for McCullough Robertson, the independent law firm celebrating 100 years in 2026.

What started as a small pastoral practice supporting Queensland’s primary producers is now a leading law firm with a strong sense of community.

Partner Dominic McGann explains how the firm’s 100-year history intersects with that of Barcaldine, and why supporting this event was important as they reflect on a centenary.

“You don’t need to listen to music to enjoy music. I’m just there to give them the lyrics.” 🎶

Auslan interpreter Mikey Webb joined us on this year’s Outback Trail as our Accessibility Ambassador, using his expressive style to interpret performances across Western Queensland. 🤠

You might recognise Mikey from his prominent role interpreting government press conferences during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He’s also a big live music fan. 🤘

Here Mikey talks to Trail Ambassador Taylor Moss about the importance of accessibility in live music – for Deaf and hard of hearing communities and listening audiences equally. ✨

“You’ve got (Deaf and hard of hearing) people there, they’re feeling the vibrations. There was one amazing woman there, she was just loving life with the big speakers.”
