So apparently, I’ve got some direct competition.
Am I angry? Actually… no.
A new creative business has opened in my suburb offering similar workshops for a similar audience, and quite a few of you have messaged me saying, “Karen, you must be furious!”
Honestly? I’m not.
The world is full of businesses doing similar things. We’re all trying to make a living, and if another artist wants to create a space where people can make art, connect and get creative, then I genuinely wish her every success. There is room for all of us.
More creativity in the world can only be a good thing.
Of course, when my business is called U Create, and the new business in the same suburb is called something so similar…is perhaps a little unexpected.
The similarity is perhaps a little unexpected.
I’ve been building U Create for over 10 years, so naturally people are going to make the connection — and judging by my inbox, you already have!
But competition doesn’t scare me. I’m proud of what we do, the community we’ve built and everything that makes U Create special.
I believe there’s space for more creative businesses, more opportunities to make art and more places for people to feel inspired and connected.
So rather than getting angry, I thought I’d open the conversation.
Where do YOU think inspiration ends and direct competition begins?
Because I reckon this could be an interesting one….I would love to hear your thoughts?
