One of the most delightful moments from The Tipping Point Cabaret ✨🐧

Leila charmed audiences with a playful and thoughtful trapeze performance exploring what it means to try, fail, and try again.

Inspired by the determined spirit of a flightless bird, the piece balanced humour, elegance and a touch of irony as Leila navigated challenges high above the stage. Through graceful aerial artistry and heartfelt storytelling, she reminded us that perseverance isn't about never falling—it's about finding the courage to keep going.

A beautiful celebration of resilience, determination and the joy of embracing the impossible.

A little snippet of Vulcana’s Street Performing student Izzy Sticks brought to Queen Street Mall last week. Come see more of our students, as taught by the amazing Hannah Cryle , perform at Queen Street today between 5-7pm. What will you see? Fire? Whips? Juggling? All three and more! Don’t miss it.

Don't forget! Our AGM is on this Sunday. You can even attend remotely, if you like. And, for those who attend in person, we will have hangs, games, and hopefully, through the judicious combination of those two arcane practices, fun. Come along! Link in the bio :)

Standout moments from The Tipping Point Cabaret 🌊✨

Collective Circus captivated audiences with an excerpt from their new work in development, Off-Shore.

Blending powerful acrobatics with a live soundscape, the performance explored the fragile balance of Australia's coastal ecosystems and the impacts of climate change. Inspired by rocky pools, living organisms and our changing shorelines, Off-Shore transformed complex environmental issues into a moving and accessible experience.

Through breathtaking physical storytelling, Collective Circus reminded us of both the beauty and vulnerability of the natural world.

From 27 May to 3 June is National Reconciliation Week 2026. The theme for this year's National Recognition Week, developed in consultation with First Nations owned and operated consultancy Carbon Creative and supported by artwork from Gumbaynggirr/Bundjalung artist Otis Hope Carey, is ALL IN. It's an invitation and a challenge for us all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

There are many barriers to reconciliation. In 2026, First Nations peoples continue to face systemic discrimination, violence, and dispossession. At Vulcana, we acknowledge the work that needs to be done to address Australia's violent history and to create an equitable future. We understand reconciliation requires our daily commitment to action - and we are ALL IN on doing our part, always striving both to work and to listen.

If you're keen to support reconciliation with us but aren't sure where to start, we recommend simply connecting with some of the amazing First Nations creatives we have across Magandjin and beyond. Tonight, for example, is the last night of EAT SLAY ZOMBIE's debut season at La Boîte Theatre - an amazing new theatre work led by Githabul–Migunberri–Yugumbeh woman Alinta McGrady and supported by our recent Fresh First Nations mentor Lisa Fa'alafi.

It's a great way to commit to going ALL IN on reconciliation. (There's still tickets available, I checked!) Will you accept the challenge and invitation of National Reconciliation Week? - MJ

The Tipping Point Cabaret 2026: A Line In The Air captivated audiences with a breathtaking performance that transformed simple soap bubbles into fleeting works of art. Combining circus, physical theatre and visual poetry, her act balanced precision and playfulness with an incredible sense of wonder.

Originally from France and now based in Meanjin (Brisbane), A Line In The Air brought her international training and multidisciplinary artistry to the stage, inviting audiences into a dreamlike world where delicate bubble sculptures floated, shimmered and disappeared before our eyes.

There was something beautifully human in the temporary nature of the work — a reminder to slow down, be present and enjoy the magic while it lasts.

A mesmerising act for audiences of all ages and a true highlight of the cabaret.

Tipping Point 2026: Blurring the boundaries between reality and imagination, Alastair’s act transported audiences into a surreal world of endurance, vulnerability and transformation. Alastair experiments with the unusual, abnormal and surreal, stirring audiences while pushing the boundaries of circus.

Artists like Alastair are what make live cabaret and contemporary circus so unforgettable. Bold, immersive and deeply human.
