Curbside Carnies is excited to work with a new council partner in the southern suburbs of Brisbane!

Using Community Project Grant funding, we will be working with 3 organisations and the first we'd like to announce is presented by .grains.

A grassroots organisation dedicated to supporting, celebrating and advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community, they deliver a range of activities for adults and youth in the Logan area.

We've already brought our circus joy to the recent Pride March and look forward to creating more magic with "out & proud" kids in the coming months!

Proudly supported by .council.

We'd like to introduce you to the next graduate of the recent Street Performance Program run by Vulcana Circus & Hannah Cryle

✨️ Piper Mae ✨️

"My name is Piper Mae. I have been working as a performer, predominantly in children’s entertainment for the past 3 years.
I was feeling curious about street performing and I auditioned for a buskers permit in November 2025. I was successful in my endeavour, however I wasn’t exactly successful at getting myself onto the street.

In the new year, a friend sent me a link to a street course by Hannah at Vulcana Circus. I thought to myself ~ this is it!!

The course was not only super helpful, but bundles of fun! Hannah gave us her street knowledge and we explored our creativity in a safe environment. At the end of the course we went out onto the street to share what we had created.

I now feel more excited than ever to dive into this world of street and I can’t thank Hannah enough for giving me the space, knowledge and encouragement I needed to explore this avenue of performing."

Piper is already performing as part of the Queen St activation run by Street Performers Australia, with assistance by Curbside Carnies.

Give her page a like to see where she's performing next!

Behind the scenes in Brisbane, there are some individuals and organisations really making a difference to street performance and arts.

Recently, Vulcana Circus partnered with Hannah Cryle to offer a course in street performance development for those wanting to make the big leap.

One graduate was Izzy Sticks a phenomenally talented fire spinner who is now expanding their repertoire to include circle shows.

Of the experience, Izzy said: "Hannah was an incredibly warm and encouraging teacher with a deep wealth of knowledge on the industry, Classes were both fun and constructive and I have left with a new group of lifelong busking friends."

They will debut their show as part of the ongoing Queen St mall activation, which showcases the nation's best every weekend.

Check Izzy out for yourself:
11am-3pm, Sunday 28 June

Initiatives co-presented by Street Performance Australia, whose ongoing mission is to support emerging street performers.
