Brighton Jetty Sculptures

Brighton Jetty Sculptures Brighton Jetty Sculptures Our vision is to continue to hold a major arts event concluding with the successful annual 7 Brighton Jetty Classic Swim.

About the Event
The event was inspired by Brighton Surf Life Saving Club members after experiencing sculptures at Cottesloe Beach WA, the latter event modeled on the famous Bondi Sculptures by the Sea. While inspired by these events, Brighton Jetty Sculptures differs in that it is a community event free to the public, and it raises funds for the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club. The combination of b

oth arts and sport is a unique and successful community event. Sculptures large and small for outdoor and indoor display will be made from multi media compositions and techniques, and all for sale. While continuing with the exhibition of indoor sculptures, we encourage entry of large outdoor works suitable to be placed in adjacent Bindarra Reserve and along the Sculptures Walk, Esplanade, Brighton beach. This community event was a finalist in the 2012 Ruby Awards in South Australia.

The Brighton Jetty Sculptures photography competition was another huge success with hundreds and hundreds of entries including this beautiful long exposure shot by

The competition is designed to bring photographers together to shoot and showcase the artworks on display and helps artists see their works come to life as well.

And none of it could be possible without the wonderful support of sponsors who provide both the cash prizes and framed prints.

So we would like to thank who are closed at the moment for renovations but will be back soon bigger and better than ever before. Their support for this local events is greatly appreciated.

Thanks also to and , who just moved into a bigger gallery side by side at Henley. Husband and wife team Marek and Rhi donated framed prints for the top three winning photos from the competition and we love their involvement in this truly seaside local gallery.

And of course, everyone who entered and enjoyed the 300+ artworks on display!

Next year will be our 20th anniversary and we aim to bring you our biggest and best event yet.

A big thank you to the Brighton Surf Club juniors who volunteered over the duration of this years Brighton Jetty Sculptures.

Juniors such as Willow and Charlie - despite an extremely hot week - worked alongside our other volunteers to bring you the biggest exhibition we’ve ever had.

Whether it was manning the tents on Bindarra Reserve, wait and kitchen staff on the awards night, helping out with the Jetty Classic swim or the nippers doing some aerial publicity for the overhead cameras on the Tour Down Under leg, we thank them for their helping hands!

Bump out day where many artworks head to their new homes, or back with the artists for another exhibition. And we pull it all down!

It’s another long day for our volunteers and helpers like the crew from Glenelg

While the exhibition itself is tough enough through summer heat it goes way beyond the 12 days and we cannot thank our volunteers and committee enough for their efforts.

And of course both the artists and people who come to see the amazing artwork, this year a new record.

And we are already working on 2027 - our 20th anniversary!!

PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS

You all voted and we think you might be a little obsessed with Octopuses! 🐙

The People’s Choice Awards are a cash prize awarded to the artist of both the most popular indoor and outdoor artwork.

Voted solely by the public via their QR codes, we received hundreds and hundreds of votes on your favourite indoor and outdoor piece of the 300+ artworks on display over the 12 days of the exhibition which draws over 100,000 visitors.

Indoor winner was “Octopus” by Mark Judd

Outdoor winner “Ocean Treasure” by Daniel Gill - a huge sandstone carved piece with included its own seat.

There was an amazing array of artworks both indoor and outdoors and our largest exhibition yet.

Congratulations to both artists for their wonderful works and thank you to our friends and favourite bakery for their continued support.

And the winners are…..

The 2026 BJS Photography Competition, which drew over 600 entries, set the judges a near impossible challenge with a shortlist that was anything but short.

With a record 300+ artworks on display this year and some incredibly detailed pieces there were some equally amazing shots taken.

But the judges were not tasked to judge the art but judge the photography so the 2026 winners were…..

First prize is $500 plus an A1 framed print of the winning photo from

Second prize is $300 plus a $200 voucher from while third prize is $200 plus a $100 voucher, again from

1st 🥇 .images of this sublime post-sundown evening in Brighton with a silhouette of Jason Aslin’s Quadraginta.

2nd 🥈 who captured a stunningly deceptive inside shot of Flower Ball by Judy Manning. (Shot in Landscape)

3rd 🥉 with a great shot of the very popular Sunshine Flower by Chris Murphy.

Highly Recommended (pics 4,5,6)

Judges took into account a host of factors and there could easily have been dozens of highly recommended such was the quality of some of the entries.

The idea of the competition is not only to challenge photographers to get creative and bring them together at the event but also a great way for artists to have their pieces not only shot beautifully but seen by a wider audience.

Thank you immensely to competition sponsors and for their support in making the prizes possible, and of course the photographers for getting behind the competition.

With a record number of entries on display, some amazing detail in the artworks and some incredible Brighton backdrops the volume of wonderful photos made for a great competition.

We hope it’s even bigger again next year!

There’s over 300 original artworks spread between the two air conditioned marquees on Bindarra Reserve and the foreshore and many of them will look amazing in the setting sun later.

Getting clingy with an artwork? There’s plenty of artworks for sale and don’t forget many artists take commission work, so if it has a sold sticker don’t despair we can often facilitate another being made.

There’s just three days left to peruse over 300 artworks between the foreshore and Bindarra Reserve and don’t forget the nominal entry fee into the two marquees is a donation to the Brighton Surf Club.

We’ve got a huge weekend coming up with the final few days of the Brighton Jetty Sculptures exhibition, along with the annual .brightonjettyclassic swim and the children’s research charity float. There’s two days of music in the Brighton Surf Club too!

Come and enjoy an amazing few days by the beach!
