Held in Bridgetown in WA's scenic South West... on the second weekend of November each year - Blues at Bridgetown is a three day Event... with many hours of musicians, showcase, multiple venues, street entertainment, youth & community involvement, wine appreciation, workshops, and much much more. So how did it all start? Let’s go back a few years. Around 1986 Pip Mills, Sheila Howat and a small gr

oup started to develop a festival that would re-establish and empower the arts in the region through music. They progressed in an ad hoc fashion bringing a very wide range of music performances into the town. Fast forward to 1993 when Chris Hughes and the WA Tourist Commission offered support for the development of a Blues Festival that could be promoted as an attraction to interstate and international visitors. A public meeting was called with representatives from all community interests to find out if the town would support such an idea. The answer was a resounding yes and a committee was formed to develop an event that would position itself as a leading music festival and attract large enough audiences, but not too large for the town over a three day period. That first committee – Pip and Sheila with Joan Krauze and Doreen Harkins – delivered the inaugural Blues at Bridgetown event in 1993 which was put together in six months and attracted approximately 5,000 people. In its second year, the audience grew to around 12,000 people. Over the 22 years that Blues at Bridgetown has been around many people have come and gone – within the organisation, within the community, within the music scene. No doubt some ‘up-and-coming blues talent of the future’ from those early years made it, some perhaps not. That’s how it all started 23 years ago, seeded from an idea 28 years ago. What is it that has Blues at Bridgetown still here and going strong after all this time? Vision, passion, great music, community … and the individual people who have been a part of something special along the way, adding their special little bit of magic to it.

‘Fine Blues’ indeed.

🎶 GET TO KNOW THE ARTIST 🎶
Introducing The Art of Dysfunction performing at Blues at Bridgetown 2026.

*Art of Dysfunction* are a Perth-based blues-rock outfit forged in the south of Western Australia, delivering high-octane rock ‘n’ roll with deep roots in blues, funk, swing, reggae, and soul.

They’ve cut their teeth playing alongside Australian rock mainstays like *Electric Mary* and *The Radiators*, and took their sound overseas on a European tour in 2022 supporting blues icon *Michael Vdelli*. That connection stuck — the band later became Vdelli’s rhythm section in 2025 with two singles out.

Fresh off back-to-back appearances at *Ravenswood Blues & Roots Festival* in 2025 and 2026, they’ve also hit *Bridgetown Blues* with Michael Vdelli in 2025 and are set for *Echuca Blues Festival* with him in 2026.

*Lineup:*

- *Michael Menna* – Guitar, vocals. Known for blistering blues licks and current guitar player for “The Jets.”

- *Royce Mack* – Drums. Formerly of the Zack Linton Trio and Vdelli’s band.

- *Kelly McCarthy* – Bass. Formerly of the Zack Linton Trio and the Joondalup Symphony Orchestra.

Expect tight grooves, soaring guitar, and a live show that’ll send you to the moon and have you back in time for breakfast.

🎶 GET TO KNOW THE ARTIST 🎶
Introducing Owen Campbell performing at Blues at Bridgetown 2026.

Owen Campbell is one of Australia’s premier alternative blues/rock exports with 4 best-selling studio albums, 4 EPs, and over a decade of national and international touring.

He’s a slide guitarist, a songwriter, banjo player, blues singer and more. The sort of performer you would expect to find in New Orleans blues joints, but in fact Campbell’s roots are in Newcastle, Australia. With his smouldering guitar work, gritty caramel vocals, and sublime rhythm section, Owen’s sound is best described as alternative blues and soulful cosmic rock.

Owen’s debut album, “Sunshine Road,” was released in late 2013, reaching Number 1 on the overall charts (Australia), knocking Adele off the top spot in 2014.

Soon after Owen released “The Pilgrim” in 2014, “Breathing Bullets” in 2016, and “Rolling Thunder” in 2019, each showcasing his evolving song writing and musical style.

Owen’s international success came with his second album, “The Pilgrim,”. The album charted in several countries, including France, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, and earned him critical acclaim in Europe.

Every one of Owen’s albums has hit the Top 10 on the Apple Blues Charts in over 10 countries.

Beyond his chart success, Owen is also known for his powerful live performances, where he showcases his impressive slide guitar skills and emotive vocals.

He has toured extensively in Australia and overseas, including in the US, where he has built a dedicated following.

August 2025 saw Owen released Cosmic People – his first studio EP in six years.

Describing the EP, Campbell says: “Cosmic People encapsulates both the winter of despair and the warmth of spring. It’s a reminder that we’re more than screen-addicted beings – and that a beautiful world is waiting for us to reconnect.”

The EP was recorded and mixed at The Rabbit Hole Recording Studio with Brandon Dodd – renowned guitarist and engineer for Kasey Chambers.

2026 sees Campbell ready to release his 7th album and bring his commanding live performances to venues and festivals across the country.
