The Australian Tattoo Industry has suffered yet another tragic loss with the passing of esteemed member Raelene Robinson on Monday, 8th May, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Raelene was one of the very first female tattoo artists in this Downunder land of ours, commencing her career in the early 60's.
Once married to the late Dan Robinson Snr. and mother of Danny "Nutz" Robinson, both icons of our Industry, tattooing was certainly a family business.
Not only was Raelene a brilliant tattooist but plied her skills with 'tattooing' cow hides, stubby coolers and more, all to absolute perfection.
She was simply known as Mum, Raelene, Rae, Grandma and Ethel (but never Rals!) and although she lived a full and interesting life, Raelene was never one for 'fame and fortune' and she certainly didn't want any fanfare to say goodbye. She was a big part of Australian tattoo history, especially in Queensland, and will be sadly missed by those that knew her, so next time, just raise your glass in appreciation for knowing her or of her.
To All the Family and many friends, we offer our sincerest heartfelt condolences
