Collins St, 5p.m. In the early 1950s, John Brack adopted the urban Melbourne environment as his subject, recording the shops, bars and workplaces of the city with an ironic edge. This painting is among the most iconic of this period. Here, Brack depicts Melbourne’s financial centre hub at the end of the working day, uniformly dressed office-workers stream homeward.

On a recent trip to Laos I was fortunate enough to do a batik class with a Hmong lady who is one of the last people doing Laos traditional batik. It was an amazing experience and great for PD. This is the artwork that resulted which I am using with my own students to create Glue Batik.
