The Bowral Premier! “Gladys: A Musical Affair” is a new musical journey about the alleged life of Gladys Berejiklian, from her tireless leadership through fire and pandemic disasters, to her biggest disaster: “Dodgy” Daryl Maguire.
Local ABC presenter Nick Rheinberger, in his Black Summer rock opera “Watch and Act”, first featured a musical Gladys in a rocking press conference. A series of satirical videos during Covid lockdowns soon followed, again featuring the hilarious Tia Wilson as Gladys. As Gladys’s secret life with Daryl became exposed in ICAC phone taps, “The Woman Who Saved Australia” gave us all the makings of a classic fall from grace, and that’s inspired “Gladys: A Musical Affair”. You’ll hear torch songs and epic ballads from Gladys, a bit of country from Daryl, some stern words from Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant, and even some Armenian matchmaking music.
Presented by Rheinberger & Wilson Music and lyrics by Nick Rheinberger. Direction by Tia Wilson
Tia Wilson: Gladys Berejiklian, accordion and bass
Nick Rheinberger: Daryl Maguire, guitars, bouzouki, banjo
Mel Wishart: Kerry Chant, clarinet, sax and bass
Rob Laurie: Shane Fitzsimmons, keys, drums, bass, uke
