A beautiful finished make!

Annette came into Castle Handmade looking for a project for her leftover 8ply yarns, and I suggested the Granny Go Round Cardigan by Iron Lamb.

Look at this gorgeous, colourful result! Annette used Morris & Sons Estate 8ply for the edging (along with a few extra colours to bring the palette together) to create a truly one-of-a-kind cardigan.
A lovely reminder that leftover yarns can become something special! Thanks for sharing, Annette.

Two gorgeous jumpers, two beautiful yarns!

Sonya, one of the talented teachers at Castle Handmade, has recently finished these two lovely garments.
Blooming Quiltby Renarde Endormie, knitted in Fiori Merino Silk, a luscious hand-dyed 8ply.
Lawrenson Sweater by Lily Kate France, made in Amano Yarns Warmi, a soft 10ply alpaca and merino blend.
I love Sonya’s eye for wearable pieces with thoughtful details and beautiful finishing. Handmade garments to love wearing for years to come!

It was such a pleasure to welcome Australian author Tania Blanchard to the store today!

I first met Tania last year when I was exhibiting at the Southern Highlands Woolfest.We had a lovely chat, and she told me she was writing a novel featuring the wool industry and fibre crafts. I was so excited to hear more!

Fast forward a year, and The Paris Prize has been launched — and I’ve read it and absolutely loved it!

Spanning Australia, Scotland and the world of French haute couture, this historical novel follows Australian extra-fine Merino wool from the sheep farms through spinning, weaving, dyeing and milling, before becoming beautiful fabric for France’s finest fashion designers.
With traditional Scottish weaving, fascinating textile history and strong female characters, it’s a wonderful story that celebrates the craftsmanship behind the fabrics we love.

I’ve been having a play with one of the new Hoooked DIY bag kits and I absolutely loved watching it come together!

From opening the kit to crocheting the bag and seeing the finished result, it was such a satisfying little project.

Hoooked use recycled fibre yarns, and some of the kits include vegan leather handles or bases for a lovely finishing touch.

Most are crochet kits, but there are a couple of knitted options too. They’re beautifully packaged with everything you need to get started, making them a gorgeous gift for the makers in your life.
