Claypool Claypool has 3 core potters, 60 members and over twenty drop-in potters. Members consist of potters,

Claypool is a communal pottery studio open 7 days a week for members, daily drop-ins and anyone who has a hankering for wheel throwing or hand building pots. We offer private or group lessons for beginners with a cuppa tea and biscuit always on offer.

A day in the studio - 2 glaze kiln unpacks, stopped many times for chats and met with a potential new intern, needed gloves, broke a prop, 2 pieces stuck to shelves, 2 to setters, weighed some pieces for lovely members, drank 50 cups of water (slight exaggeration) & 2 coffees, forgot to eat lunch, unpacked 1000 bags of clay (maybe an exaggeration), talked underglaze vs glaze, lots of laughs, busy but fun (ish).

The team are taking a summer break but never fear we will be popping in. Think of a slower paced service for a few weeks while we rest and recharge. We want to extend our warmest thanks to everyone who supports us, particularly our studio managers, interns and members, our community is the reason we exist. Just another Sunday at claypool, we have spacious hand building and wheel throwing areas, you’ll never feel cramped. We can accommodate private classes while our members create. There is always a studio manager or owner on hand to show new members around or offer advice (limited to 2 questions per day!). We even share lunch and many members bake cookies or cake. Looking for a clay community? We’d love to show you around and introduce you to our claypool world.

Cup admiration post - when the shape and glaze complement each other .ceramics. claypool’s glazes are unique to our studio and made in house with over 45 choices. Every hand building and wheel throwing course finishes with a glazing lesson. Glazing never looked so good!

Meet Rose of RMW Ceramics who you can find at The Laneway Market tomorrow.

Rose is a hand builder and creates organically shaped vessels and hand decorates them with underglaze and glaze.

Her vibrant and interesting creations are hard to miss and would brighten any space.

We are proud to have Rose as a member of claypool and look forward to following her continuing journey with clay.

These little cuties are part of the beautiful pottery collection by our talented maker, Susan.

You’ll find her work — and Susan herself — at our Claypool Market this Sunday! She’ll also be running our Decorate Your Own Christmas Tree Decorations table, so come along and join the fun. A great activity for the kids whilst you get some Christmas shopping done.

Inside we have our fabulous tables overflowing with our handmade ceramics, and outside our pottery artists will be displaying and selling their stunning pieces from vases, cups, dinnerware to cute chilli dishes.
