Over the weekend, four of our members competed at the Hollins Trophy Competition, held at Erina Ice Arena in NSW.

Izabella Thistleton was victorious in the Intermediate Women’s division, defeating a field of eight skaters. After her fair share of injuries in the past couple of seasons, Izabella has started the season strongly and will take plenty of confidence from this result.🥳🥇

In the Junior Women’s division, Jayla Tarbuck placed fifth and achieved a huge personal best score of 92.31 points. Jayla's continued improvement is a testament to her determination and commitment. 🤩 Georgie van der Kooi finished 13th after a performance that didn’t quite deliver the result she was hoping for, but we're sure she will bounce back strongly. 🫶

Our other competitor was Ariana Smart, who made her debut in the Preliminary Girls division and placed 11th. Stepping up to a new level is never easy, particularly when competing in an unfamiliar rink, but we hope the experience proved to be a valuable learning opportunity for Ariana. 👏

Best wishes to Dwight Kaptich who will compete in Auckland, New Zealand at the Oceania International this week. Dwight will skate in the Basic Novice Boys division, competing in a field of two skaters. 🌟🍀🇳🇿

This will be Dwight’s first international competition and an exciting milestone in his skating journey. After achieving a fantastic result last year with a second-place finish at Nationals, this event will be another positive step forward and a valuable learning experience as he continues to develop at a higher level.

We are incredibly proud of Dwight’s progress and dedication, and we wish him all the very best for the competition. Have a great skate and make the most of every moment both on and off the ice in New Zealand! 🙂

Congratulations to Oliver and Sophie Leahy, who both competed in Melbourne on Saturday at the Autumn Challenge. 🙂

Sophie was first to skate in the Preliminary Girls division and delivered a fantastic clean program, achieving a new personal best score of 21.35 points. In a strong field of seven skaters, this was good enough for third place and a wonderful result. 🥳

Oliver competed in the Elementary Boys division and was also chasing another personal best. Despite a shaky start to his routine, he recovered well to score 23.51 points. He will now turn his focus towards testing for Basic Novice. 🌟

BFISC would also like to wish all of the wonderful Mums out there a very happy Mother’s Day today! 🥰💐

** Updated ** - New Pics added 🙂

Over two days on Wednesday and Thursday, we enjoyed some fantastic skating at the Towne Family Trophy. Our club members delivered a strong set of results, with no fewer than 12 personal best scores recorded, and many divisions proving to be tightly contested. 😍

There was plenty to celebrate, with eighteen of our skaters claiming first place and many more finishing on the podium. A particular highlight was our success in some of the deepest and most competitive divisions of the event, where strong fields made for high-quality competition. Our skaters rose to the occasion to claim victory in each of these: Freeskate 2, Preliminary Girls, Elementary Girls, Basic Novice Girls, and Junior Women - an outstanding achievement given the level of competition in those categories. 🏆

Congratulations to all our skaters on their efforts and achievements. A big thank you as well to the volunteers, officials, and coaches whose hard work made the event possible. 🫶

More great news in from Adelaide, with Poppy Farris claiming second place at the Panda Challenge. Poppy competed in the Free Skate 3 division and this competition has been a great learning experience for her. Congratulations to Poppy and her coaching team! 🥳 We look forward to watching your growth throughout this season and beyond.

From abroad, we also had Issy McKewen competing in Finland at the Helsinki Solo Ice Dance International. As the reigning Australian Champion in this category, this was a fantastic event for Issy to challenge herself on the world stage. 🇫🇮😍

In a field of 14 entrants, Issy finished a very credible eleventh place, with a score of 120.48 points. Congratulations to Issy and her coaching team also! 🙂
