Julie Vellacott says that being a director is one of the biggest challenges she’s faced.
She is a huge Noël Coward fan and even published a book about “Food and Noel Coward”.
“I wanted to pay tribute to Noël Coward who has been part of my life since a child singing his songs with my brother and friends around the piano,” Julie says.
Julie has been encouraging others to appreciate his work via the Boonah Playmakers.
“Some of them had never heard of the multi-talented playwright, actor, composer, writer etc., but I think it’s safe to say they are enjoying the experience. Blithe Spirit seemed the obvious choice - fun, witty and just the right number of performers required.”
Julie’s great love is the theatre, along with music and film. She’s also passionate about reading and writing, having written various short stories and articles. She also enjoys cooking, which has been part of her professional life too.
Julie, also the President of the Boonah & District Cultural Foundation, has been on stage and behind the scenes many times and attends as much theatre as she can manage. Her experience as an events manager has also helped her to be organised and embark on directing.
“Having a great support team of actors and crew is a wonderful thing and I’m very thankful for them all,” she says.
We thank Julie for immersing us in the wit and wisdom of Noël Coward and trust the audience is going to enjoy the show as much as we are.
