We are looking for casual staff /casual juniors, who can work across BOTH our acting/character roles AND our Twisted Wonderland Café.

So... if performing isn't your thing, this probably isn't the job for you. 😂. But if you've ever dreamed of working down the rabbit hole... with people as crazy as you... keep reading! 🐇🎩

We are looking for people with loads of personality and charisma, who love performing, aren't afraid to be a little crazy and genuinely enjoy interacting with the public.
One day you might be working in our Wonderland Café, another you could be Alice, a fairy, Mad Hatter, Red Queen, White Rabbit, dinosaur keeper, butterfly, bee, dragon... or even a DINOSAUR. 🦖🦕🦖

Requirements:
🎭 Passion for acting/drama and being in character
⭐ Confident, outgoing and full of personality
😊 Great with people and customer service
☕ Café/hospitality experience preferred
💪 Able to comfortably lift 15kg
⭐ Reliable and HARD WORKING
🗓️ Available weekends and school holidays

A hard-working ethic is an absolute MUST... if you're lazy, or if you plan on not turning up for work, don't apply. Our dinosaurs, mostly Gerald, tend to eat those staff first, as just happened today...

⭐ Apparently we're “run down”… so we thought we'd better check! ⭐

Every now and again, our little Wonderland gets hit with a cluster of one star reviews, usually arriving together and, rather curiously, using very similar words and themes.

Lately the favourite seems to be “run down.”
So rather than getting upset about it, we thought we'd have a little look at what we've actually been doing…

In just the past 12 months:
✨ Completely renovated our Twisted Wonderland Café
🎨 Added our spectacular new Space Cowboy entrance artwork
🦄 Added our beautiful unicorn and carriage
🦖 Built a brand new Dinosaur Dig
🪨 Created our stone circle
🗿 Added hand carved totems
🌳 Added a new feature tree to our gift shop
🚪 Added a new wardrobe to Narnia
❄️ Created another brand new Narnia display within just the past two months
🌱 And even recruited a little robotic groundskeeper who quietly keeps our lawns looking beautiful

And then there's something we're particularly proud of…......
🎶 In the past six months, we've created and published THREE complete albums of original music inspired by the Butterfly House and our magical worlds. (Wings of Whimsy)
That means when you wander through our park today, you're not simply hearing somebody else's playlist in the background. You're hearing our music, written especially for our worlds and the stories we tell.
It's another little layer of immersion that makes our Wonderland uniquely ours.

All of this happens while we continue caring for our butterflies, maintaining our dinosaurs and fantasy worlds, creating immersive art, and providing live entertainment and character experiences as part of your entry, something we're incredibly proud to offer at a small independent attraction and within our modest entry price.

And then there are our staff. Our Incredible Staff!!!!
This one makes us particularly proud. Our team is consistently mentioned throughout our reviews for being friendly, enthusiastic, entertaining and wonderful with families.

We're constantly creating, painting, planting, repairing, building, writing, composing, imagining and adding something new.
Could we ever actually finish Wonderland?
We certainly hope not!!!!!!!! Can Wonderland actually ever be finished???? Never.....ooooh Neverland!!! Shhhh!!!!

Because a Wonderland that stopped changing wouldn't be much of a Wonderland at all.
So yes, we've noticed the little cluster of one star reviews… perhaps placed there by a few little Red Queens. ❤️👑
We all have them..... We all know them..... And every now and again, we all encounter someone determined to shout “Off with their heads!”
But here's the wonderful thing about Wonderland…
The Butterfly House is infused with magic.....And in our Wonderland, cyber bullying doesn't get to hide in the shadows. We call it out, shine a little light on it, and carry on creating magic. ✨

But we'd much rather draw your attention to the hundreds of happy families, wonderful photographs, lovely comments and five star reviews surrounding them.

And to everyone who visits us, recommends us, brings their family back, supports our little independent attraction, listens to our music and takes the time to leave a genuine review…

UPDATE: We have the perfect dinosaur trainer that's moved up here from Victoria, she is crazy about dinosaurs, and Gerald has taken a real liking to her, so we are please to announce the position has been filled,

Have you ever dreamed of working at the 🦋 Coffs Harbour Butterfly House 🦋 while also being a real-life 🦖 dinosaur keeper 🦕? Now's your chance!

We're looking for someone to start immediately, as our current dinosaur keeper was unfortunately attacked by a dinosaur and is temporarily out of action. Only serious applicants need apply. Absolutely no time wasters!

There is potential for up to 20 hours per week for the right applicant. Full training will be provided.

Requirements:
• Must love dinosaurs.
• Must enjoy talking to people and interacting with the public.
• Enjoy acting or staying in character.
• Have a strong work ethic, no joke, this is an absolute must. Lazy workers have been known to get eaten by our dinosaurs.
• Essential: Be able to comfortably lift 15 kg while walking around with dinosaurs.
• Previous animal handling experience would be an advantage.

Most people think they know what the Coffs Harbour Butterfly House is.

Butterflies.
Dinosaurs.

Every now and then people ask how a wildlife veterinarian and a dolphin trainer ended up buying a tourism business.

This beautiful story, filmed here at the Coffs Harbour Butterfly House by Little Wings, helps answer that question.

Our son Jaidal's journey changed the direction of our lives forever. After everything our family experienced, we realised that life isn't just about caring for animals. It's also about creating places where families can reconnect, laugh together, make memories, and simply enjoy being together. We came to appreciate just how much difference kindness, compassion and support can make when life is at its hardest.

That experience shaped not only who we are, but also the values of the Butterfly House. It's why we proudly offer free entry to paramedics, firefighters, war veterans. It's our small way of saying thank you to those who dedicate their lives to helping others.

The Butterfly House has become our way of giving something back. Every butterfly, every dinosaur, every maze, every smile from a child reminds us why we chose this path.

We're incredibly honoured that Little Wings chose to film part of their story here. Their work gives families hope during some of the hardest times imaginable, and we're proud to support the extraordinary difference they make.

Many visitors know Dr Verné as the owner of the Coffs Harbour Butterfly House, but she is also a Wildlife Veterinarian and Conservation Medicine specialist with a PhD in Disease Surveillance and Epidemiology.

Today, Verné was interviewed by Channel 7 News regarding the recent detection of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (H5N1) in Australia, providing expert commentary on the risks to wildlife, agriculture and biosecurity, and what Australians can do to help protect our unique wildlife."
